SOFT-COLLAR HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 30, 1920.
Application filed July 10, 1920. Serial No. 395,316.
To all wko/m. t may concern.'
Be it known that I, IRviNG R. LEDERER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Providence, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented new and useful Improvements in Soft-Collar Holders, of whichv the following is a specification.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in soft collar holders, and the primary object of the invention is to produce a holder of this type in a simple and economical manner, and to also increase the holding effectiveness of the device so as to assure same being held in place against accidental displacement both as to the longitudinal and lateral movements.
The invention further resides in the structural features and combination of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
In the drawings:
Figure l is a longitudinal sectional view of the invention;
Fig. 2 is a rear plan view;
Fig. 3 is a view similar to Fig. l of the front blank;
Fig. 4 is a view similar to Fig. 3 of a modified form of front blank, and
Fig. 5 is a section on line 5 5 of Fig. 3.
In proceeding in accordance with the present invention a solid or somewhat thickened front blank l is employed which is formed with a pair of opposed integral lips 2 located at the center of the blank and with a pair of similar lips 3 and 4 located on opposite sides of the lips 2 and at the side edges of the blank 1 similar to the arrangement of the lips 2. The blank 1 is formed with depressions 5, 6 and 7 extending longitudinally of the blank and located respectively between the pair of lips 3, 2 and 4. Y
A spring member in the form of a spring bar 8, is employed, `which bar is formed of undulating form and has three concave parts, 9, 9 and 10, of which the latter seats flat in the depression 6, and is securely held therein by bending the lips 2, thereover as depicted in Fig. 2. The part 10, is shaped to conformably fit in the depression 6, and
accordingly is iiattened somewhat as depicted in Fig. l.
The concave parts 9 are engageable between the lips 3 and 4 and with the bottoms of the depressions 5 and 7, the free ends of the bar 8 beyond the concave parts 9 being turned outwardly to form V-spaces 11 so as to allow the collar ends to be easily introduced between the bar 8 and the front l.
In use of the device it will be seen that the collar ends will be forced between the lips 3 and 4 and against the bottoms of the depressions 5 and 7 by the concave parts 9. Consequently the fastener cannot move up or down due to the lips 3 and 4 which Somewhat bite into the collar, and due to the engagement of the collar with the bottoms and ends of the depressions 5 and 7, the device will be held against longitudinal movement, the ends of the depressions forming shoulders.
In the modified form of the invention shown in Fig. 4 a pair of lips or ears 2 are employed in place of/ each of the lips 2 in the preferred form, so as to more effectively secure the bar 8 in place where deemed necessary or desirable.
It will also be seen from the foregoing that no solder whatever is required to produce the structure and that the entire device is composed of but two parts each integral throughout.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is l. A soft collar holder composed of a front bar formed on its rear with three depressions, a pair of lips arranged on opposite sides of each depression and a spring bar having concave parts received in the respective depressions, the lips of the central depression being lbent over toward each other to hold the spring bar in the central depression.
2. A soft collar holder, including a front bar having depressions on its rear face, a lip adjacent each side of each depression, and a bar having parts extending in'each depression, the lips of the central depression being bent over the bar to hold same in position.
3. In :i soft eollai1 holder, a front bar, a spring bar secured to the front bar between its ends vand having curved parts adjacent its ends, and pairs of spaced lips borne by the front bar and between Which the curved parts of the spring bar are received.
In testimony whereof I have signed my' name to this specification in the presence of 10 two subscribing Witnesses.
IRVING R. LEDERER.
