i I HARRY JACOBS AND HANNAH JACOBS, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
HAIR-WAVING COMB.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed December 26, 1919. Serial No. 347,420.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, HARRY lawns and HANNAH JACOBS, citizens of the United States, and residents'of New York, in the county of Kings and State ofNew York,
have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hair-Waving Combs, of
which the following is a. specification.
ThlS inventlon relates to improvements in hair waving combs and consists of a series of arcuate combs suitably connected so that in use, alternate combs will move alternately in opposite directions to Wave the hair when This object is attained by'means of the device shown in theaccompanying drawing in which- Figure 1 is a view, in plan, of the device when the parts are drawn together, show the hair of the head in engagement therein,
and the form of wave made by the device;
Fig. 2 is an extended view of same, and Fig. 3 is an end view of the device as shown inFig. 1.
' Referring in-detail to the parts, 1. designates a series of arcuate combs attached by .means of sliding members each consisting of the sections 3 and 4 having slots 5 and 6 formed therein which slots engage plus 7 upon one of the combs.
A second series of arcuate combs 8 are alternately arranged between the aforementioned combs and are connected by means of sliding members 9 and 10 having slots 11 means of the bars .14 pivotally attached thereto. f i
In practice, the combs are drawn apart as Indicated in Fig. 2, and placed upon the head so that the teeth engage the hair which has previously been moistened.
The combs are then drawn together and assume-the position shown in Fig. 1, drawing the hair in alternate directions forming waves as indicated. The hair is allowed to dry whereupon the device is removed, leaving a wave which is commonly called. mar-- celle.
In the drawing, two series of combs each having three combs are shown, but it is ob- =vious that any number of combs may be employed.
Various modifications may therefore be embodied without departing from the spirit of the invention which is not limited to the particular construction shown.
Having thus described the invention, itis claimed 1. In a hair waving device, twoseries of combs, the combs of each series being slidably attacheh to one another, pivotal connecting means between the two sets of combs to permit lateral movement thereof and means attached to each series of combs to keep the combs of each series in alinement.
2. In a hair waving device, two series of arcuate combs, the combs of each series bemg slidably attached to one another, pivotal connecting means between the two sets of combs to permit lateral movement thereof.
Slgned at New York, in the county of Kings and State of New York, this 20th day of December, A. D. 1919.
