COLLAR-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented NOV. 23, 1920.
Application filed July 21, 1920. Serial No. 397,809.
lar-Holders, of which the following is av specification.
y larly adapted invention relates to devices particufor retaining the opposite margins or points or soft collars.
The essential objects of my invention are to avoid the formation of longitudinal wrinkles in those portions of the collar flaps which are engaged by the device; to insure security of engagement with the fabric; and to attain these objects in a single piece structure inexpensive to manufacture and facile v 1 to manipulate.
To the above ends essentially my invention consists in such parts and in such combination of parts as fall within the scope of the appended claims.
In the accompanying drawings which form a part of this specification- Figure '1 is a front elevation of my novel holder,
Fig. 2, a top plan view, and
Fig. 3, a front elevationvof the device ap-' plied to a collar.
Like reference characters indicate like parts throughout the views.
In detail the holder comprises in a continuous piece of metal a central bar or rod 5. Continuous with each end of the rod the wire or material is bent circularly forming a circular loop or ring 6 in longitudinal alinement with the bar. At or adjacent the end of the rod the material from which the ring is" formed 7 is bent to form a diametrically disposed arm 8 in substantial alinement with the'bar comprising a forwardly inclined.
portion 9 adjacent the bar and a rearwardly inclined portion 10 approaching or contacting with the forward face of the ring extremity as at 11, and terminating in an outwardly curved guide end portion 12 which may be flattened at its extremity.
Each ring 6 forms an abutment against which a flap 14 of a collar 15 rests while engaged or clamped by the finger or arm 8 at the point 11. It will be observed that the shape and location of the frames or abutments 6 serve to prevent any wrinkling of thecollar material overlying the same despite the engagement of the fabric at the mint 11 by the clamping finger l0.
It will be further noted that the bend intermediate the arm portions 9 and 10 forms a space 17 which, when present, affords a clearance for any hem which may be present upon the margin of the collar flap.
I claim i 1. In a collar holder, a cross bar, ring abutments integral with the ends of the bar, and clamping fingers continuous with the abutments and disposed transversely thereof.
2. In a collar holder, a cross bar, ring abutments upon the ends of the bar, and clamping fingers fast to the portions of the abutment adjacent the bar and extending crosswise of the abutments having end portions projecting beyond the abutment.
In testimony whereof I have afiixed my signature.
WALTER U. FRY.
