IMPROVEMENT'IN BOSOM-PADS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 135,936, dated February 18, 1873.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, OEAELEs A. PEILLIPs, of Chicago, in the county of (look and State of Illinois,'have invented a new and useful Improvement in Bosom-Pads or Bosoin-Pad Frames, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, which will enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, and in which- Figure 1 represents a bosom-pad provided with my improved frame; and Fig. 2 a vertical central section of the same in the plane of the line ac w, and viewed in the direction indicated by the arrow.

My invention consists of a bosom-pad provided with a supporting-frame constructed in the manner hereinafter described, and also of the frame as a new article of manufacture.
In the drawin g, A represents an elastic bosom-pad constructed so as to be readily inflated with air. B is a continuous Wire attached to the pad. This wire is bent so as to support the lower wall of the pad in a concavo-convex form, or as nearly so as may be necessary in order to give it a shape approximating the form of the breast.
It will be observed that the wire does not extend to the center of the pad. By thls means a cushion is presented to the nipple in case the central part of the pad comes in contact with the breast. It will also be observed that this supporting-frame may be readily and completely constructed as a separate article of manufacture, and applied to the purposes for which it is intended.
Having thus described my invention. what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1.. A bosom-pad provided with a supporting-frame, constructed substantially as specified.
2. As a new article of manufacture, a supporting-frame constructed of a continuous wire bent into a form substantially as shown and described. CHARLES A. PHILLIPS.
