STOVE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 9, 1920.
Application filed May 11,. 1920. Serial N0. 380,654.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE l/V. Mrnns, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lafayette, in the parish of Lafayette and State of Louisiana, have invented new and useful Improvements in Stoves, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to portable stoves, and comprehends a construction made up of a plurality of separable parts which can be quickl and easily assembled for use or disassemb ed as the occasion may require.
The nature and advantages of the invention will be better understood when the following detail description is taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the invention residing in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as claimed.
In the drawings forming part of this application, like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in the several views and wherein Figure 1 is a view in elevation of a stove constructed in accordance with my invention, the closure being shown in opened position.
Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view through the construction showing the door or closure in its closed position.
Fig. 3 is a horizontal sectional view through the stove.
Fig. 4 is a top plan view and Fig. 5 is a detail view of the grate.
Fig. 6 is a similar view of the ash pan.
The invention illustrated in the drawings comprises a casing indicated at A open at the top and having a front opening and a removable closure therefor hereinafter described. The stove proper is removably mounted within the casing and has the walls thereof indicated at 11 spaced from the walls 10 of the casing A to form an intervening air space. The stove proper is also provided with an open front and a remov able grate which is arranged within the stove through the opening and which grate reposes upon a support above the ash pan.
Arranged within the stove and projecting from the rear wall and two sides thereof is a continuous flange 21 upon which the removable grate 22 is supported. The grate is provided with short legs 24 for this purpose. However the grate may be of any suitable configuration. An ash pan 26 equipped with a handle 27, occupies a position between the base and the internal flange 21, and can be inserted within the stove or removed therefrom through the opening 19. It is manifest, from the foregoing description, that the component parts of the stove can be readily assembled or disassembled and that the stove is susceptible for use where any other stove can be placed. The flue 13 projecting but a short distance above the body of the stove may be associated with the usual size stove pipe.
l/Vhile it is believed that from the foregoing description, the nature and advantages of the invention will be readily apparent, I desire to have it understood that I do not limit myself in this connection and that such changes may be resorted to when desired as fall within the scope of what is claimed.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new is:
1. A portable stove comprising a casing open at the top and front therof, a stove removably arranged within the casing and spaced from the walls thereof to provide an intervening air space, said stove having an open front, a grate removably arranged within the stove, means for supporting the grate in spaced relation to the bottom of the casing, and a door closing the opening of said casing and including a hingedly connected section, with one section hingedly mounted upon the base as and for the purpose specified.
2. A portable stove comprising a casing open at the top and front thereof, a stove removably arranged within the casing and spaced from the walls of the latter to provide an intervening air space, a door closing the opening in the casing and hingedly connected with the bottom thereof, said door including a hingedly connected section with one section susceptible of movement to a position at a right angle to the other, a flange projecting from the walls of the stove interiorly thereof, and a grate supported upon said flange as described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
GEORGE W'. MYERS.
