Be it known that l, STANLEY ZYSKOWSKI, a citizen of Poland, residing at Chester, in the county of Delaware and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shade-Roller and Curtain Pole Supporting Brackets, of Which the following is a specification. This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in shade roller and curtain pole supporting brackets particularly adapted for readily permitting the hanging of shades and curtains in front of windows or the like in proper relation with respectto each other and to give the best possible appearance.

The primary object of the present inven tion is to provide a simple and efficient form of shade roller supporting bracket and an equally simple and durable form of curtain pole supporting bracket, the two brackets being adjustably associated in a simple and eflicient manner for permitting the ready vertical or outward adjustment or both of the pole supporting bracket relative to the shade supporting bracket. 1

Another object of the invention is to adapt, by slight modification, the usual form of shade roller supporting bracket for receiving and effectively supporting a curtain pole supporting member.

With the above general objects in view and others that will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel form, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described in connection with the accompanying drawing. 7

Referring more in detail to the several views, the present invention embodies a metallic shade roller supporting bracket substantially of the usual form and embodying a plate 5 flanged at its base as at 6 and provided with apertures in said base flange as at '7 for reception of nails or screws in the usual manner for rigidly fastening the bracket to the frame of a window or the like, the plate 5 being provided adjacent its outer end with an aperture 8 in the usual manner for receiving the pintle of a window shade roller. t is of course to be understood that these brackets are employed in pairs, one bracket having the aperture 8 and the other being slotted as at 8 in Fig. 4 in the usual way.

Thus far described, the parts are well known and in common use. .However, the top and bottom edges of the plate 5 are, in

accordance with the present invention formed 1 with right angular substantially horizon-v tally disposed flanges 9 and 10 which extend laterally of the platen and which respectively have alined apertures 11 and 12, the flange 9 being notched in a stepped manner as at 13 (see Figs. 2 and 3) at the forward edge of the opening 11 fora purpose which will presently become apparent. The aper ture 12 is preferably rectangular.

The curtain pole supporting member of the present device embodies a substantially vertically disposed flat plate 14 which is of any suitable design and which has a straight shank 15 at its lower end serrated as at 16 at its opposite edges so as to form substantially ratchet like teeth for engagement with the flanges 9 and 10 as shown in Fig. 1 when the shank 15 is disposed to extend through the openings 11 and 12. The plate 14 is preferably forwardly enlarged as at 17 above the ratchet teeth 16 so as to provide an abutment capable of resting upon the top flange 9 when said plate 14 is in its lower-: most adjusted position. The plate 14 is preferably twisted and shaped at its upper end to provide a curtain pole receiving arm or cradle 18 in the usual way. 'From' the foregoing description'it will be seen that when the plate 14 is disposed as shown by full lines in Fig. 1, a tooth of the shank 15 engages a portion of the flange 10 at the rear of the aperture 12 thereof while another tooth engages the flange 9 at one of the notches 13 so. that the pole supporting plate 14 is firmly held operatively disposed through the help of gravity. If it should become desirable to adjust the plate it higher or farther away from the wlndow frame for any of many reasons, it will be;

seen that said plate 14: may be tilted to disengage its teeth 16 from the flanges 9 and 10 whereupon said plate 14 may be slid vertically to the 'desiredheight and then tilted back to engage the teeth 16 with the flanges 9 and 10 again. a substantially verticalcurtain pole supporting member comprising a plate having a curtain pole 'receiving'arm' upon the upper end portion thereof and a substantially straight shank at its lower end adapted for slidable reception in said flange openings.

A curtain pole and shade roller supporting bracket comprising in combination with the usual shade roller supporting bracket having laterally extending flanges v upon the upper and lower edges thereof prov ded wlth ahned openings, and a substantla-lly vertical curtaln pole supportlng' meniber-comprising a plate having a curtain] pole receivingarm upon the upper endportion thereof and substantially straight shank at its lower end adapted for slidable 1 porting bracket comprising in combination 'with the usual shade roller supporting bracket havinglaterally extending flanges upon the upper and lower edges thereof provided with alinedopenings, and a substantially vertical curtain pole supporting member comprising a plate having a curtain pole receiving arm upon-the upper end portion thereof and a substantially straight shank at its lower end adapted for slidable reception in said flange openings, the shank and the shade roller supporting bracket flanges be-' ing coeperativelyconstructed for permitting vertical and outward adjustment of said curtain pole supporting member relative to said shade roller supportingbracket.
