TOY GUN.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 26, 1920.
Application filed October 14, 1919. Serial No. 330,565.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ROBERT M. KLIEMANT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Baltimore, in the State of Maryland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toy Guns, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in toys and has for its object to provide a simple, cheap and durable toy for amusement of children.
The invention consists of the novel construction and arrangement of the parts hereinafter set forth in the following specification and pointed out in detail in the claim.
In the accompanying drawing- Figure 1 is a side elevation of my invention.
Fig. 2 is a top plan View of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a plan view of the device thrown by the gun when the latter is fired.
Referring to the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification and in which like reference numerals designate like parts throughout the several views thereof, 1 designates the barrel of the gun and 2 the stock, the latter being formed of wire. The outer end of the barrel. is provided with. two spools 3 and 4. The spool 3 is set in a cut out 5 and the spool 4 is above the upper surface of the barrel 1, both of said spools being mounted on a shaft 6. The spool 4 is provided with a cord 7 wound thereon and having an eye 8 on the end thereof adapted to take over the end of the trigger 9. The
said cord 7 passes through an eye 10 near the provided with a rubber 11 wound thereon and having one end secured to the eye 12 on the side of the barrel 1. The spool 4 is also provided with'two projections 13 over which the device 14 fits.
The operation of the device is as follows.
The cord 7 is pulled back and the eye 8 placed over the end of the trigger 9. The action of unwinding the cord 7- from the spool 4 causes the rubber to wind and tighten on the spool 3, the device 14 is then placed over the projections 13 on the spool 4. The gun is then fired by pulling the trigger 9, which releases the cord 7 and the rubber 11 will unwind from the spool 3 cansing the spool 4 to revolve and throw the device 14 into the air.
Having thus described my invention what I claim 1s A toy gun comprising a stock and a barrel, the outer end of the barrel havinga cut-out, a shaft projecting through said cutout and above the barrel, a spool mounted on said shaft in said cut-out, a spool mounted on the shaft above the barrel, a trigger pivoted in the gun stock, a cord wound on the spool above the barrel and having a ring on one end adapted to engage the said trigger, and a rubber wound upon the other spool and havlng one end secured to the side of the gun barrel.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
ROBERT M. KLIEMANT.
