To all whom t may concern.'
Be it known thatl I, EDWARD ALBRnoH'r, a
citizen-'cf vthe United States, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia, btate ofA Pennsylvania, have invented 'a Vnew and useful Sled, of `which the following' is a J v .v
` '1designates the' side members of a sled specification.
- My present invention consists! of a novel constructiony 'and rarrangement-'of a v sled wherein `mechanism is providedgfor 'enablingy one to mechanically effect the forward movement of a sled.
It further consists of a novel construction of a sled having'fulcrumedin it a lever which is'provided' with cutting or gripping members, and the-lever hasy connected Vwith it one or more springs, each of whichY preferably has a pulling strength of twice the weight ofrone vperson, :and'move the lever in such a direction that thesled' is moved forwardly/.
It further consists fof ay novel construc" tion andv arrangement of a lever, a novel construction and arrangementof a cutter and novel means for-'connecting the cutterl and its holding devices with: respect to the lever. Y
It further Vconsists of a novel construction and arrangement of' sled .steering mechanism. u
It further' consists vof .other novel .features of construction and advantage: which will hereinafter more/clearly appear in the detailed description of my invention. p For. the purpose of iljlustratingmy invention, I have shown in the accompanying drawinga preferred embodiment of it which in practicewill give satisfactory and reliable results.V It is, however, to be understood that this'fembodiment is typical -only and that the various instrumentalities `of '1 which myY invention consists yare capable of being variously arranged andorganized and that the invention is not limited to the precise arrangement and organization of these instrumentalities as herein set forth.
Figure 1 represents, 1in side elevation, a sled embodying my invention. Y
Fig. 2 represents the sled in end elevation with the seat removed and with a portion of it broken away to more clearly show the construction.
:its adjusted position.

Thei-lsidesare provided with'v .the ycam lgrooves intov which extendsfa rod z-which 'a 'bearing 8 secured to the sled in any. de-
sired manner. f f
, 9 designates a handle:A whichtelescopes into the lever Gand is provided with lfastening devices 10 whereb rt'can be fixed in the-effective length of the handle may-be variedso thatit'canbe adjustedfor different 'sized persons.- The handle f9pat. its Aupsuch. as sheet' y. such construction per end is preferably provided'with across Y bar, as shown. 11 designates a blade; holder i orfsocket which is hinged-,at 12-to,. anend of the lever 6. The sockets' 11 on the op'- posite side of thehinge are cutaway or beveled as atflandthe lower. ends ofthe lever Gare also faced o or beveled. as at 14, in order to facilitate v4the action of the springs 15,y One end of each spring is fixed,
to an end of the lever 6 and the otherV end is fixed Vtothe-socket 11.r "Each socket 11 is recessed. or apertured to receive a cutter blade 16 which is secured inassembledcposition by meanszof'a set screw 17. Each cutter is ypreferably constructed of flat -bar stock and is provided with acentrally located wedge-shaped tooth 18 and-with; side
