This invention has reference to condiment holders and more particularly to salt dispensing devices for .table use.

he primary object of the invention is to provide a device of this character to cause the salt contained in the holder to be maintalned in a pulverized condition at all times within the scope of what to insure against the salt within the container from becoming clogged.

A further object of the invention is to provide a condiment holder constructed to discharge material from the bottom thereof, thus eliminating the necessity of inverting the holder, to cause the discharge of the material contained therein.

With the foregoing and other objects in View which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be made is claimed without de arting from the spirit of the invention.

Referring to the drawing in detail, the device is shown as including the hollow body portion 5, constructed of any suitable material, the lower *portion thereof being provided with an annular supporting-flange, 6, the bottom 7, separating the body from the supporting flange 6, to provide an upper compartment 8 and a lower compartment 9.

A discharge opening 10, is formed in the bottom 7, the same preferably being circular in formation, to accommodate the. cone shaped closure 11, the side walls thereof adapted to contact with the walls of the opemng 10 to close the opening 10 and prevent the discharge of material from the upper compartment 8, when the closure 11 is in its normal position.

This agitating member 15, is also provided with a longitudinal bore 20, formed throughout the length thereof and accommodates the rod 12, the lower portion of the agitating member 15 extending beyond the elements 17, while the lower end of the coiled spring 21 lies on the bottom of the container and has a tendency to normally force the agitating member 15 toward the upper end of the body 5, the agitating member 15 being restricted in such upward movement by means of the closure 11. The agitating member is provided with a threaded bore adapted to receive the threaded end of the rod 12, the head 22 being of a length to extend a considerable distance above the. removable top 14 to be engaged by the thumb of an operator to cause the discharge of ma-- terial from the body.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is In a condiment holder, a body portion having an apertured bottom, a removable top having an aperture in the center thereof secured to the upper end of the body portion, a rod extending through the body portion and having a threaded upper end, the lower end of said rod having a cone-shaped .rod, said agitating member adapted to be positioned over the rod, agitating elements carried by the agitating member, a coiled spring disposed between the bottom of the body portion and one of the agitating elements for normally urging the agitating element upwardly, andv one end of the agitatingmember extending through the opening I claim the foregoing as I in the removable top.
