141 and 15 are the two tape members which it is desired to detachably connect. The upper part may be secured to a corset, waist or other member, and the lower part may be a part of the garter. Preferably the part 1 1 is of non-elastic material, such as webbing or tape, and the part 15 is preferably elastic. The bushing 16 is suitably secured to the tape or tab 1 1 and preferably housed entirely within it. The sleeve 17 is preferably housed entirely within the upper end of the tape 15. The sleeve and bushing are connected by two U-shaped members 18 and 19.

In the form shown in Figs. 3, 4c and 5, the bushing 16 is provided with two cars or tangs 20, 20, with tapered slots 21 between these ears and the ends of the bushing, which slots are adapted to receive the edges 14' of a folded strip which forms the tape 14:. Preferably the ends of the cars 20, 20 are offset, as shown in Fig. 5, to facilitate assembly of the bushing and ears with the edges of the tape strip. lVhen the ends of the tape 14 are brought together they may be secured directly to the corset or other support, so that no special stitch ing or fastening of the bushing to the tape is necessary. In Fig. 11 the bushing 16 is provided with sharp tangs 20 for preventing it from shifting longitudinally in the tape. In Fig. 12 the bushing 16 is provided with tangs 20 adapted to engage the edges of the tape and prevent endwise movement of the bushing. It will be understood that a tape such as shown in Figs. 3 and 1 or an ordinary woven tape may be employed with the bushings of Figs. 11 and 12.

One end of the frame member 18 is preferably permanently secured in one end of the sleeve 17 in any suitable manner. The part 19 has one arm slidably engaged in the parts 22 and 23 of the sleeve. The end 24: is preferably bent at an angle, so as to co-act with the spring jaws 25 of the sleeve when the parts are in the position shown in Figs. 1 and 9. The mouth 26 of the jaws 25 is preferably somewhat expanded, so as to yieldingly engage the end 2%, and not only prevent it from moving longitudinally but also prevent it from rotating when the parts of the frame are closed. A part of the sleeve is cut away, as at 27, to permit the member 19 and its end 24 to be slightly rotated or tilted, as shown by dotted lines in Fig. 8, to facilitate connection and disconnection with the bushing 16.

By this construction it will be understood that the bushing 16 is completely housed and concealed by the tape 14 and securely held in position, and at a minimum cost. It will also be understood that with this demanufacture a corset or waist with attached non-elastic tabs and bushings and carry these in stock for any length of time; and then, when it is desired, fresh elastic garters may be readily attached. It will also be possible, at any time, to detach the elastic part of the garter when it is desired to launder the garment, or in-case it is desired to replace the old garter with a new one. The constructionis simple, consists of but few parts, and is compact and unobtrusive. Although the device is secure when the parts are in the position of Fig. l, the parts may be readily disconnected by drawing out the member 19 into the position shown in Figs. 2 and 6, whereuponthe end of the member 19 1nay be tilted into the dotted position of Fig. 8, and the member 18'will then be withdrawn from its end of the bushing 16 into the positionof Fig. 2

It will be understood that various changes in construction and arrangement may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention as setforth in thefollowing claims.

In the form shown in Fig. 13, the part 18. is provided with a projection 18", to prevent it from turning in the sleeve 17, and the part 19 operates as'in the other form.

I claim:

1. The combination of a non-elastic corset tab, a bushing housed therein, an elastic garter tape, and a fastening device carried thereby and having a member detachably connected in said bushing.

2. The combination of a tab, a bushing secured thereto, a tape, and a fastening device carried thereby and having two U- shaped members engaging in said bushing.

3. The combination of a tape, a bushing carried thereby, a second tape, a sleeve can ried thereby, and a two-part frame detachably connecting said bushing and said sleeve.

4. The combination of a bushing, a tape, a sleeve'carried thereby, a d-shaped member having one arm secured to said sleeve and the other arm slidably engaged in said bushing, and a second U-shaped member having its arms respectively slidable in said sleeve and in said bushing.

5. An attachment device comprising a bushing having longitudinally extending ears, and a folded tapeembracing said bushing and having its edges folded about said ears.

6. An attachment device comprising a sleeve, two U-shaped members secured thereto, one of said members having a sliding engagement with said sleeve, and, a snap catch for holding it in place.

7. An attachment device comprising a combination of two folded tapes, a tubular bushing concealed in one of said tapes, and a Wire fastening mounted in the other tape, and having two ends detach-ably housed in said bushing.

8. An attachment device comprising two tapes, a tubular bushing carried by one tape, and a fastening device carried by the other tape, and having two wire ends bent toward each other and housed in said bushing. 9. As an article of manufacture, a tubular bushing open on opposite ends and having an anchorage portion with ears extending longitudinally of the bushing and leaving slots between the ears and the ends of the bushing.
