LIQUID-FUEL FITTING non FURNACE-FRONTS.
Application filed September 6, 1919. Serial Britain, managing director, Smiths Dock Company Limited, High Docks, South Shields, in the county of Durham, England,
CoRNnLIs ZULvn-n, engineer, a subject of the Queen of the Netherlands, of St. Helens Court, Great St. Helens, in the city of London, England, and HERBERT ALEXANDER THOMSON, engineer, a subject of the King of Great Britain, of 9, Cleveland Terrace, North Shields, in the county of Northumberland, England, have invented new and useful Improvements in Liquid-Fuel Fittings for Furnace-Fronts, of which the following is a specification. V
This invention relates to improvements in liquid fuel fittings for furnace fronts to enable a furnace provid fed with either solid or simultaneously.
In the specification accompanying a prior application for Letters Patent Serial No. 322,211, filed September 6, 1919 there is described a liquid fuel fitting of this kind comprising an air tube supporting a liquid fuel burner supported'in a casing provided on the front plate of the furnace.
According to this invention, the liquid fuel burner is supported in a holder lodged in an aperture in the front wall of the casing above mentioned and the said burner extends across the casing into an air cone lodged in an aperture in the front plate of the furnace. This air cone is in open communication within the said with the furnace space. cone is provided on the liquid fuel or both casing and at the other end burner within the air cone and this regulator cone may be arranged so that its position can be adjusted, or it may be fixed to the burner.
Specification of Letters Patent.
outside of the d therewith to be 3 at one end with the space An air regulator Patented Sept. 21, 1920. No. 322,212.
The accompanying drawing shows a horizontal section of part of a furnace front and appurtenantrparts similar in construction to 'corresponding parts shown in Fig. 810 the drawing accompanying the application for Letters ?atent Serial No. 316,623, filed August 11, 1919 having the improved burner and air cone mounted therein.
As shown in this drawing a is a front plate, I) a'baffle plate and c a casing on the front plate around a opening 03 through which solid fuel is fed to thefurnace,
An air cone 6 open at both ends is supported in an aperture in the plate a by a flange f and an aperture is cut in. the baffle plate I) opposite to the small end of the cone. A liquid fuel burner g is mounted in a holder h attached to the casing aby its flange z, the end of the burner extending to a position within the air cone and being provided with a regulator cone j which as shown is movable on the burner within the cone 6 by means of a rod is accessible from outside the casing c, or the cone j may be fixed to the burner.
What we claim as our invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1-- In a furnace front capable of use with solid or liquid fuel tion with afront plate and a rear baffle plate of a hollow cone open at both ends and interposed between said-front plate and baffle plate, a casing outside the front plate and inclosing the said casing forming a chamber on one side of the opening through which solid fuel is fed, and a support mounted upon the front wall ofsaid casing to receive the burner for liquid fuel, substantially as herein described.
