To all whom it may concern r 7 Be it known that 1,;W1LL1AM CI JR RAN, a citizen of the United States, res1d1ng at Lewiston, in the county of Androscoggin and State of Maine, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Let-OH Rod Operators and I do declare the following to vbe a full, clear, and exact descriptionof the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use thesame.
' My invention relates to looms, principally of the Draper type, and more particularly to operating means for the yarn let-off mechanism. Heretofore', on the rock shaft which carries the lay sword, an arm has been attached for shifting the operating rod of thelet-off mechanism, but it has been found that in time, considerable relative movement of the arm and the sword is allowed, due to wear. This often causes serious injury to the machine as well as the production of an inferior product. It has been suggested that the operating rod for the let-off mechanism be operated directly from the sword, but this necessitates changes in the shape of the rod or in the position of the sword, and often required other alterations in the machine. My invention however, has for its object to provide a simple and inexpensive device for attachment to the usual loom without making any alterations whatever therein, said device being constructed to be rigidly held by the sword and the actuating arm of the aforesaid rod, against relative movement.
With the foregoing in view, the invention resides in the novel construction and combination of parts hereinafter described and claimed, the descriptive matter being supplemented by the accompanying drawing.

The screw 15 is adapted to be threaded through the arm until it bears tightly against the sword 2 and during this movement, any lost motion between the arms 7 and 8 and any possible movement of said arms with respect to the sword, is effectively taken up. Thus, when the lock nut 16 is tightened, it is insured that the shaft 3, the arm 7-8, and the sword 2, shall move as a single rigid structure.
From the foregoing, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, it will be seen that I have produced an extremely simple and inexpensive, yet a highly efficient, durable and easily installed attachment for looms, which will overcome all lost motion between the sword and the actuating arm for the let-off operating rod, thus preventdevice shown, I prefer to embody the at-.

I claim:
1. In combination with the lay sword of a loom, the rock shaft carrying said sword, and the operating rod for the yarn let-off mechanism; a vertical arm rising from said rock shaft, and connected with said operating rod, and a lateral arm extending from said vertical arm to said sword and rigid withrespect to both to hold them'against relative movement.

3. ln combination with the lay sword of a loom, therock shaft carrying said sword, and'the operating rod for the yarn let-off mechanism; a vertical arm rising from said rock shaft, and connected with said operating rod, a lateral arm rigidly extending from said vertical arm to said sword, and
a set screw threaded through the outer end of said lateral arm and bearing against said sword.
4-. A loom attachment comprising an arm and means-for attaching it to the swordcarrying rock shaft, means for connecting the operating rod of the let-off mechanism to said arm, and a lateral arm extending rigidly from said first named arm and adapted tobear againstthe sword.
5. A loom attachment comprising an arm and means for attaching it to the swordcarrying roclrshaft, means for connecting the operatingrod of the let-oif mechanism to said arm, a lateral arm extending rigidly from said first named arm, and an adjustableterminal on the free end of said lateral arm adapted to bearagainst the sword.

A loom attachment comprising an arm and means for attaching it to the swordoarrying rock shaft, means for connecting the operating rod of the let-off mechanism to said arm, a lateral arm extending rigidly fromsaid firstnamed arm, and a set screw threaded through the free end of said lateral arm and adapted to bear against the sword.
