PATENT OFFICE.
-PAUL EDWARD HITZIGRATH, OF ROCKVILLE CENTER, NEW YORK.
PACKAGE.
Specification of Letters Patent.y Patented Sept. 14, 1920,
Application led April 2, 1920@ Serial 11m-370,722.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, PAUL E. I-IrrzroRA'rH, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Rockville Center, in the county of Nassau and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Package, of which the following isa full, clear, and exact description. v
This invention relates to improvements lin packages, and more particularly to an envelop designed as a container for hair nets, an object of the invention being to provide an improved construction of eu.- velop which, when folded, will smoothly support the hair net and prevent contact of sections of the hair net with each other so as to overcome any tendency to tangle the net.
A further object is to provide an envelop of the character stated which can be manufactured and sold at a reasonably low price, and which will operate as a convenient container to inclose the net or which may be conveniently opened to display the net.y
A further object is to provide an envelop that will act as a sanitary form of container for the net. In showing thenet to the consumer it will not be necessary for the salesperson to remove the net from the container or touch it with the hands as half of the net can be vdisplayed at a time by unfolding either the left or right side half section flap or wing.
The envelop also lends itself readily for imprinting or lithographing upon either side when open flap.
With these and otherA objects in view the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, and combinations and arrangements of parts, as will be more fully hereinafter described 'and pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings- Figure 1 is a plan view showing the envelop in open position to display the net.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view showing the parts partially folded.
Fig. 3 is an exaggerated view in section through the envelop and the net showing the parts in folded and closed position.
Fig. 4 is a view in transverse section on the line 1r-4; of Fig. 3.
My improved Vpackage comprises an envelop composed of a slngle sheet or blank 1 having integral tabs or folds 2 at its Side edges with a' yfold line 3 between the main portion of the blank and the tabs or folds 2. 'A fold line 4 extends centrally through the folds 2 and through the main portion 1 of the blank and also through a covering sheet 5 which is of substantlally the same width as the main portion of the blank 1 but is slightly shorter and is adapted to be positioned on top of the hair net 6.
An integral covering tab or flap 7 is made integral with the upper edge of the blank 1 and is provided with a tongue 8 adapted to be positioned through a slit 9 in the blank when the envelop is folded. The inner face of this tab 7 is also provided with adhesive as indicated at 10, so that the envelop can be sealed if desired.
The hair net 6 is of general circular form and is of such diameter or length that while the intermediate portion of the net rests upon the main portion of the blank 1, the end portions of the'net extend over onto the tabs or folds 2. When the sheet 5 is positioned over the net and the tabs 2 folded down upon the sheet 5, the ends of the net 6 are disposed between the sheet 5 and the tabs or folds 2. While in this position, the envelop is folded upon the line 4 and the covering tab or flap 7 is either secured by its adhesive or its tongue 8 is positioned through the slit 9, as clearly shown in It will 'thus be noted that the hair net will be maintained in smooth condition without any parts of the net touching each other, and when the envelop is opened and spread out, the netcan be displayed withoutY any danger of tangling the net.
Furthermore, this manipulation of opening and closing the envelop can be performed without the hands coming into contact with the net, hence, the device is eX- tremely sanitary. When the envelop is folded and closed, it is a secure container for the net.
.Various slight changes might be made in the general form and arrangement of parts described without departing from the invention, land hence I do not limit myself to the precise details set forth', but consider myself at libert to make such changes and alterations as airly fall within the spirit and scope of the appended claim.
I claim:
As a new article of manufacture, a pack age comprising a blank having a pair of parallel fold lines spaced from the Yedges fold line at right angles to the first mentioned fold lines, a hair net located on the t central portion of the blank with its ends extending over said parallel fold lines, a covering sheet on the net between said parallel fold lines, the ends of the net and the ends of the blank outside of the parallel fold lines adapted to fold over the covering sheet whereby the'ends of said net are'con- 10 fined between said ends of the blank and said covering sheet 'and all of said parts adapted to be folded on the longitudinal folded line, and a covering flap at one edge of the blank adapted to be secured to the 1 main portion of the blank when folded.
