Description
1. M. WALTERS.
DISPLAY STAND. APPLICATION FILED FEB. s, 1920.
' Patented Sept. 7, 1920.
ATTORNEYS UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JAMES MADISON WALTERS, OF LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA.
DISPLAY-STAND.
Application filed February To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, JAMES MAnrsoN WALTERS, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Los Angeles, in the county of'Los Angeles. and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Display-Stands, of which the following is a specification.
My invention is an improvement in display stands, and has for its object to provide a new and improved form of stand adapted for displaying evening gowns and lingerie, underwear'and the like, wherein the fixture is so constructed that it. will be hidden by the garment displayed.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a front view of the improved stand;
Fig.2 is a similar view of a portion of the stand, showing other attachments;
Fig. 3 is a plan view of a shoulder bar of modified form;
Fig. 4 is a vertical section through the triple connector.
In the embodiment of the invention shown a suitable standard is provided, in the present instance consisting of a base section 1 and an upper section 2,. which is mounted to slide in the base section. A collar 3 is secured to the base section at its top, the section 2 sliding through the collar and a set screw 4 is threaded through the collar into engagement with the section 2 to limit the sliding movement thereof.-
The base section has a base 5 of suitable size and shape, and the upper end of the section 2-is provided with a triple connector. This connector 6, as shown more particularly in Fig. 4, is in the form of a head, having oppositely arranged alined inter.- nally threaded recesses 7 and 8, the recess 7 being adapted to receive the upper end of the section 2 of the standard, while the recess or socket Sis for a purpose to be presently described.
. A series of attachments is provided, each carrying a triple connector 6 for engaging the section 2 of the stand. The attachment shown in Fig. 1 is a substantially yoke shaped member, consisting of a body 9 and V Specification of Letters Patent. 7
"the outwardly bent portions engagin Patented Sept. *7, 1920.
e, 1920. 'Serial no. 356,610.
'In Fig. 3 is shown another form of attachment, consisting of a bar 14 having its ends curled, as shown at 15, in opposite directions.
In Fig. 2 there is shown another form of attachment, especially designed for displaying articles having narrow supporting ribons.
each 'arm having the outwardly-bent portion 18 at its extremity correspondin to the ortions 11 of" the attachment of ig. 1. hese portions 18 are threaded and they miiy engage sockets or shoulder pieces.
n Fig. 2 the shoulder pieces are omitted, the ribbons directly. In the attachment s own in Fig. 2 the arms are nearer each other and the bodis curved, so that the attachment as a w ole is curved from end to end, being U-shaped. If desired, the bar shown in Fi 2 may be "connected with the socket 8 of t e triple connection. This bar 19 has one end threaded andis provided at the other end with a substantiall triangular open loop 20. This loop mlght support some other article, as, for instance, a hat or ds shown in Fig. 1, the shoulder pieces are used when. the shoulder straps of the garment are of such width that they will.
cover the shoulder pieces. When the shoulder straps are narrow the attachment shown in Fig. 2 is used, or the ornamental shoulder pieces shown in Fig. 3 may be used.
I claim: I
A display stand comprising .a standard and an attachment for connection with the standard for supporting garments having shoulder straps, the attachment comprising a yoke shaped member consisting of a body having means for engaging the top of the standard, and arms extending upwardly from the body and spaced apart to register with the shoulder straps of the garment to be supported and of a length to hold the garment with the upper line of the bosom thereof above the body of the attachment, each arm having a shoulder-piece detachably connected therewith, said shoulderpieces being inclined outwardly and clownwardly and each extending on both sides of each arm of the yoke at its end.
