Description
G. A. LOUQUE. ARTIFICIAL TOOTH- APPLICATION HLED MAR-2. 1920.
1,35 1,578, Patented Aug. 31, 1920 NVENTOR' port that fits G ORGE A. tongue, ororttiirliis,Louisiana; Assronoa'r0 ohmvrEtrrfi'LoUQUE,

' n a aiti filed. March 2,
To all whom it may concern: 1
Be it known that I, Gnoncn A. LOUQUE, a citizen of the United States, residing at New Orleans, in the parish'of Orleans and State of Louisiana, have invented new and useful Improvements in Artificial Teeth, of which the following is a specification.
My present invention pertains to dentistry and it contemplates the provision of artificial teeththat are strongand durable and when properly positioned in the gums of a patient will present a finished and natural appearance.
The invention also contemplates the provision of artificial teeth that are quickly and easily applied and capable of use in dental crowns as well as in bridge work.
The invention in all of its details will be fully understood from the following description and claims when the same are read in connection with the drawings, accompany- 'ing and forming part of this specification,
in which:
V Figure 11s-a side elevat1on of a bicuspld toot Fig. 2 is a detailed view of the metal slip into the slots ofthe bicuspid teeth. r
Fig. 3 is a front elevation of the support as applied, to said tooth. V
Fig. 4: is a side elevation showing in dotted lines how the support rests below the upper end of-the tooth.
Fig. 5 is a longitudinal section of Fig. 10, and, Fig. 6 is a transverse section of Fig. 9. Similar numerals of reference designate corresponding parts in all of the views of the drawings.
As clearly shown in Fig. 1 the molar and bicuspid tooth 7 is provided with a slot 8 that extends slightly below the longitudinal center of the tooth and on each side of said slot 8 and on the front and rear surfaces of said tooth I provide channels or groovesv Specification of Letters 1929. ser alNa-362.54g ner edges with tongues 12 and said tongues extend the full height of the portions 10.
'It will be seen, by reference to Fig. 4 that the tooth TeXte'nds at its rear and front sides slightly abovethe metal support and hence the tooth may readily and easily straddle the gumsjof the patient. I
It will be further gathere going that when it is desired to assemble the device shown in Figs. 1 to 6 inclusive, itis simply necessary to push the support into the slot 8 and channels 9 and then the tooth may. be rigidly secured to said support by the use of cement.
a from-the are;
The construction illustrated is simple inexpensive and through its use the appearance and beauty of the patients mouth will be greatly enhanced and yet cleanliness of the mouth and teeth is at all times assured;
I would distinctly have it understood that the device illustrated maybe used: either in artificialteeth' or inbridge-and crown work. 1
Moreovenl do not wish to limit myself .to the exact material of which the teeth and supportare formed for the reason that in the future use of the-inventionsuch changes or modifications may be made as fairly fall. within the scope of my claims appended.
It will also be app'arent-that'the device as a whole is strong and will remain rigid in the gums ofthe patient.
Having described my "invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters-Patent 1-. In an groove extending from the upper endof said artificial tooth the combination i of a body portion, a. longitudinal central.
body to a point slightly beyond the trans- I verse center thereof, channels formed on the front and rear face of the body and on each side of the groove, and asupport having a portion that seatslin the groove, and further having portions that are connected together by the first named portion; said last named portions being so constructed'and arranged a that they rest in the channels of the body. portion.
p 2.111 an artificial tooth, the combination '1 of a body portion, a slot formed in the a center thereof with respect to its width, channels formed on each side of the slot and on the front and rear surfaces of the body and rear portions With respect to each other andconstructedand arranged to snugly occupy the slot of' the body portion and tongues formed on the inner edges of the f front and rear portions that rest in the chan:
nels of thebody portion. 7
i 3. An artificial tooth comprising a body member, a slot formed in said body member,
channels adjacent the slot and a support having a portion that rests in the slot and also haying tongnes that rest in the channels of the body member; said member having a I depression in its upper end in whichrthe a up er end'of the support rests.
n testimony whereof I- have hereunto set my hand in presence OfjWO subscribing Wltnesses.
