BABY-WALKER.
To all whom it may concern:
, material part of this disclosure, which:-.
use of their lower limbs,
- And finally, to provide Be it known that I, STEFANZooH, a citi-' zen of Poland, residingat Munising, county? of Alger, and 'State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful" Improvements in Baby-Walkers, of which the. following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in devices-for teaching children the natural and the principal object is to provide an apparatus in which an: infant may be placed either in a standing or sitting posture, according to their age and ability, the apparatus being movable in the manner of a baby coach or carriage, either by anattendant or by the infant itself, whose body will be supported "free from accidents likely to occur to creeping children.
A further object is to providemeans whereby the infant may be seated and fed if desired, certain parts of the apparatus acting as a table and others as a seat.
means whereby the flooring or seat element ma be held when in a raised position in asa e manner.
These and other like objects are attained by the novel construction and combination of parts hereinafter d scribed, and shown in the accompanying rawings forming a and in view showing a -Figure 1 is'a top plan -baby carriage made-in accordance witli -the invention.
Fig. 2 is a horizontal on line 22 of Fig. 3. Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view taken sectional view taken paratus.
Fig, 4 is a top plan view showing in detail the construction used in holding the hinged. elements when in a raised position.
Fig. 5 is a side elevational sectional view of the same, and Y Fig. 6 is a side-'elevational'viewbf the complete apparatus. 1 J' The device comprises a rectangular plate 10, having notched corners 11, receptive of the wheels 12, arranged in pairs and journaled upon axles 14, which extend across speciflcation of Letters Patent.
' one corner post to another,
' Patented Aug. 24, 19.20. 1919. Serial in). 284,285.
and below the plate 10, forming a species of truck. a Vertical posts 15 are secured over the axles at the corners of the platform 10, these posts extending up to a top. plate 16, containing a relatively large central opening 18, and provided with a raised -marginal rim 17 actin pbsed upon the sur a from falling ofl";
Formed through the center of the plat form 10 is a rectangular opening in which mounted, on hinges plates 20 adapted to be raised nearly vertical, while pivoted on the pin 23 is a seat 24, the same resting, when in a lowered position, upon cross strips 25 which pass from forming a rigid cc of the cover plate 16 structure.
In order to hold the cover plate set in the platform and also the seat 24, when in a raised position, there are attached to the inner sides of the adjacent corner posts15 by screws or like securing means-27, outto prevent articles exwardly turned, fiat springs 28 havin reentrantly bent ends 29, terminating in eading 30, the same being adapted to engage in corresponding pockets 32, formed in plates 33, secured by screws or like fastenings 34,, to the adjacent edgesof the seat and plate 20, so that when the same are-raised so as to bring the pockets into engagement with the outwardly spring pressed headings 30, holding these elements in a raised position.
.In operation, a child may rest upon the seat 24 so that tend through the opening 18, and the apparatus moved over a level surface in an obvious manner. If it be desired that the fichild walk, the seat 24 is turned upwardly .and also the platform plates 20 upon their hinges, permitting the infant to extend its feet through the opening normally covered by the plates 20, and being part ally supported by 'asping the sides of the structure is readily taught'to walk.
Having thus described my invention, and set forth the manner of its construction, application and use, what I" claim as new and desire to secure b Letters Patent, is
In combination wit the headand shoulders exthe posts of a platform baby walker having a seat and two pockets secured to the adjacent ed es of said symmetrical plates hinge to said platform, seat and one of .said firstnamed ates, said 10 cross strips assing from one of said posts beadin adapted to engage in t epocketsto another. or'supporting said seat in its of sai lates, substantially as described 5. operative position, outwardly turned flat and for t e purpose set'forth.
springs attached to the inner side of adja- In testimony whereof I have aflixed my cent posts, reiintrantly bentends on said signature.
springs, a beading, plates provided with STEFAN ZOCH.
