HIGH-TENSION DISTRIBUTER FR MAGNETO-BLECTRIC IGNITION-MACHINES.
Application tiled August 22, 1919.
To all whom may matera.'
lie it known that we. JAeQL'i-:s Strnxxilmin, a ritizen of the Swiss Republir. residinjr at Solothurn. Switzerland. linxsr l'linnmxx. a citizen of the `wiss llepublie. residingr at Zuehwil. ('anton of lnolothurn7 Switzerland, and l `nnnnxno lhmiox, a citizen of the Swiss Republic. residinpl at Solothurn, Si-fitzerland. have invented certain new and useful lmproveniente.y in High-Tension D15- tributers for Magneto-Electrie Ignition` Machines, ot' whieh the followingl is a specilieat ion.
InY magneto-eleetrie ignition niarhinee it has heroine customary to eniplov an arrangement in whieh the high tension distribnter rotates around an axis situated vertieally over and parallel to the axis of rotation of the rotating parts of the ignition machine. Both parts are mounted in a common easing. .-\eeordin l to this invention the lixed eurrent-eolleeting brushes are embedded in in sulatin; r cheeks which are re1novab| in serted in Asuitable apertures on both sides of the distributer and which contain also the insertion apertures and the eonneeting clips or terminals for the sparkingr plug lea ds.
Figure l oi' the at'eompanving drawings .shows a cross set-tion through the distributer l'lniltupon tht| magnet dynamo.
Fig. l Shows a side elevation of the di`v tributer easing` Fig'. 2 shows plan.
The rotating part of the ignition maehine moves in the lower portion of the easing tt. The cylindrical higrh tension distributer rwhieh is made ot' insulating material and contains the metal segments e that are eleetriwxlly eonnertefl to the Current supply Contact fl, rotate;` vertieally above the said rotating part.. rl"he distributer space is separated b v the insulating wall j' from the lower portion ot' the maehine. and particularl v Jfrom the rotor I. (ln both sides of the ejvlinder e the dist ributer spaee is closed by the two insulatingr cheeks q in which the enrrent-eolleeiiin;` brushes It are inserted. These brushes are in electrical connection with the terminal srrews for the eonnee tion of the sparking plugr leads. and projeet into the insertion apertures o that are provided for this purpose. The insulatingr cheeks 'r/ bear upwardhvv against a metal inthe distributer easing; in

termediate pieve /r whieh is eonnerted to the easing r and whirh serves` for still'ening and protertin; r purposes. These cheeks are eovered at the front end olE the mat-bine by the bearin, lr end plate and are held in their position b v loop-shaped fixing;- .springs n capable ot' turningl around the axis in.
What we elaim is2- l. ln a high tension distributer in magneto-electral ignition mat'hines. in whieh the distribnter rotates vertirally above and parallel to the axis ol' rotation of the rotor ot' the mai-bine in the same easing' ot' the nnuhine. the roinbination with the stationary euri-enero]leeting' brushes. of two removable insulating;l rheelts in which `said brushes are enibedded. sa id insulating` eheelts closing both sides of the distributer space, and also rontaining the insertion apertures und tonnen-ting elips or terminals for the sparkingl plug leads.
In a high tension distributor in :nagneto'eleetrie ignition machines, in which tlie distributor rotates vertically above and parallel to the axis of rotation of the rotor of the niarhine in the same casing of the maohine. the Combination with the, stationair)v el|rrentaiolleetin; brushes, of two removable in ulating cheeks in whieh said brushes are embedded, said insulating cheeks closing both sides of the distributer space, and also eontaiuing the imt-rlion apertures and conneeting rlips or terminals for the sparking plug leads. and. an insulating wall separating; the distributer spare from the rotor of the. machine.
il. ln a high tension distributor in niagneto-elewrie ignition maehines`r in which the i'listrihuter rotates vertu-ally above and parallel to tbe axis of rotation oi the rotor of the, maehine in the saine easing otl the maehine. the eombin-.ition'with the stationary Current-rolleeting brushes of two removable insulatingY eheehs in whirl .said brushes are embedded. said insul-.itinar cheeks closing both sides of the distributer space. and also eontaining the in ertion apertures and eonne-:tingf 'lips or terminals for the sparkingr plug leadst and a metallic intermediate member tanineeted to the Casing. for stitl'ening said insulatincr Cheeks at their tops.
4. In a high tension distribnter in mag:- neto-eleetric ignition machines, in which the distrihuter rotates i-'ertirzaily above and pri rallel to the axis of rotation of the rotor ot' the machine in the same casing of the machine, the combination with the stationary currentcollecting brushes, of two removable insulating cheeks in which said brushes are embedded, said insulating cheeks closing both sides of the distributer space, and also containing the insertion apertures and connecting clips o r terminals for thesparking plug leads, and a' bearing end plate of the machine, covering said insulating cheeks at their front ends.
5. In a high tension distributer in magrnetoeleetric ignition machines, in. which the distributer rotates `vertically above and parf, allel to the axis of rotation of the rotor of the machine in the same casing of the chine, the combination with the stationair;y current-collecting brushes, of two removable insulating cheeks in which said brushes are embedded, said insulating cheeks closing 'both sides of the distributer space, and also containing the insertion apertures and connecting clips or terminals for the sparking plug leads, andfixing springs capable of insulating cheeks in which said brushes are embedded, said insulating cheeks closing both sides of the distributer space, and also containing the insertion apertures and eono necting clips or terminals for the sparking plug leads, and loop-shaped fixing sprin s Capable of pivoting around an axis at rig it angles to the distributer axis, for holding said insulating cheeks in their places.
1n testimony whereof we have signed our naines to this speciieation.
