Be it known that we, HERBERT Gr. ALBEN- BRUCK and LEONARD E. VEBBER, citizens of the Unitedv States, residing at St. Paul, in the county of Ramsey and State of Minnesota, have invented a new and useful Ixolling Device for Scrubbing, &c., of which the following is a specification.

Our invention relates to means for facilitating the scrubbing of floors and base boards, and the object is to provide a truck riding on casters and adapted to carry in kneeling position the person doing the scrubbing, and also to carry a pail of water or soap suds and the brush and rags used for scrubbing. Other objects will be stated in the description of the operation of the device.

In the accompanying drawing:

Figure 1 is a plan view of the device with a water pail placed upon it. Fig. 2 is an edge view or elevation of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a bottom view of the device.

Referring to the drawing by reference numerals, 4, 4 are two members of the main platform, they are each secured by screws 5 upon one of two bars 6, the free ends of which extend in opposite directions one in under each adjacent platform member and is thereY secured by a bolt 7 having thumbnut 8 and which isrremovable to different holes 9 in the bars, so as to thereby alter the width of the platform.

The platform is provided in its top with grooves 10 for the knees and legs of the operator, and the under side is provided with four casters, 11, of such height that the toes of the operator will bear but lightly on the floor 12.

The right and left edges of the platform are provided with eyes 13, and with a recess 14, in which is xed a headed stud 15.

The scrub pail 16 is supported on a secondary platform, 17, having a guard 18, and at its bottom a cleat 19, to which is fixed a single caster 20. The inner edge of the platform 17 is supported by hooks 21 hooked downwardly into the eyes 13, and by a hook Specification of Letters Patent.

'or catch 22, pivoted at 23 and adapted to engage the stud 15 when the platform 17 is at the right hand side of the operator, and may engage the stud 15X if the operator is left handed so he puts the platform 17 at the left side, where its hooks 21 will engage in the eyes 13X. Such changing of the platform 17 may be unnecessary if the grooves 10 be made open at both ends, but it is believed to be preferable to have their front ends closed by terminals or margins 211 so as to limit the forward movement of the knees of the operator.

In the operation of the device the scrub pail 16 is placed on the platform 17, where it is guarded from sliding by the guards 18i and by the cleats 18X. Scrub-brush, washrag, wiping rag, and soap or washing powder may be placed on the platform near the pail. The operator now kneeling on the platform does the washing or scrubbing in about the same way as an operator kneeling on the iioor or on a piece of board placed on the floor, but instead of rising up and carrying the pail from place to place and kneeling again and getting wet and dirty on the floor, the operator simply touches the floor or baseboards sufliciently to move the truck on which he or she and the pail and tools yare supported, from one place to another in any desired direction until the work is done.

The device is also handy for painters to use in oiling, varnishing or painting floors and baseboards. Y And when the device is not in use for the purposes stated, it can be used by children as a kiddy-car, one child sitting or standing on the main platform and propelling it forward by hand or foot movement, and a smaller child may have a ride on the platform 17. In this capacity the device may be used either in the house or on porches fand side-walks.
