IMPROVEMENT IN CHAIRS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. l34.34, dated January 14, 1873v To all whom it'may concern:
Be it known that I, Lnwrs H. BAKER, of \Vashington, in the District of Columbia, have invented certain Improvements in Chairs and other Furniture, of which the following is a specification My invention relates to the fastening of the joints and legs of chairs and other furniture; and it consists of two grappling-plates to be hooked or fastened to the leg, and then so fastened to the seat or other part as to make a tension on the leg, and thus hold the latter means of screws D. Instead of the projection a for seizing the plate H a Wood-screw, 1 ,-may be employed, the plate being provided with a flange, h, Fig. 1.
I do not confine myself to the precise form of the grappling-plates above described, but propose to vary them to adapt the improvement to different forms of chair, and also to sofas and other furniture.
My above-described grappling-plates may be applied to different forms of chairs, settees, &c., and also to other furniture and similar purposes.
Having described my invention, I claim- The above-described grappling-plates H H for fastening the legs and joints of the seats of chairs and for other similar purposes, combined substantially as set forth.
