UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JAMES B. BROWN, OF WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA.
IMPROVEMENT IN BAG-HOLDERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 13%637, dated January 7, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, JAMES B. BROWN, of Washington, in the District of Columbia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bag-Holders; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the acwill be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, which is a perspective View of my invention.
A represents a platform of any suitable dimensions, upon which are secured three twisted legs, B B, supporting at their upper ends the top rim of my holder. This rim is made in two parts, G and D, of band or hoop iron. The part 0 is fastened to the upper ends of the legs B B, while the part D is made movable and adjustable. In each end of the part D is a headed rivet, a, passing through and sliding in a slot, Z2, in the part 0, and a screw or bolt in the end of the part 0 passes through a slot, 0, in the part D, and a thumb-nut, d, on said bolt secures the movable part D to the stationary part 0.
By this means the top rim maybe adjusted to suit bags of different widths with very little trouble.
The bottom of the bag rests upon the platform A, and when smaller bags are used one or more blocks, E, may be laid upon the platform to support the same.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The within-described bag-holder, consisting of the platform A, tripod B B B, the rim 0 D, made in two parts, with headed rivets a a, slots 12 b and e e, and thumb-nuts d, all constructed substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 19th day of November, 1872.
- JAS. B. BROWN.
