To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, MAURICE LOUIS Josnrrr RICHARD, residing at 658 St. Valier street,i n-the city of Quebec, in the Province of Quebec, in the Dominion of Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toys; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same.

The present invention relates to improvements in a toy which consists of a knock down house composed of a plurality of blocks of different length adapted to provide for openings such as windows and doors.

A feature of this invention is the provision of a building block outfit in which the different members noticeably differ in size and shape from each other whereby the toy may be used by young children who would be perplexed with the building block outfits heretofore known in which numerous different shaped parts having slight differences between them are provided.

The main object of this invention is to provide a toy that will be agreeable to chil dren, and particularly simple cheap and durable. Y

Another of the objects is to devise a game or toy of this character which will be instructive and which small children as well as older ones may find pleasure in playing with.

The invention will be better understood with the aid of the accompanying drawings in which:

Figure 1 is a perspective view of a house constructed according to the invention.

Fig. 2 is a view of a house partly pulled down and a detail of the blocks which form part of the house.

Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the blocks provided with a plurality of depressions to simulate brick or stone.

- Like numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts in each figure.

In the drawings 1 are a plurality of blocks preferably the length of the house which are adapted to form the front and rear sides. These blocks are superposed over one another as indicated in Fig. 2 of the drawings and '2 are blocks mounted over the top blocks 1, preferably much shorter in length in relation to the said blocks 1 and so spaced apart as to form an intermediate opening. Above said blocks 2 are mounted in superposed relation to one another four rows of short blocks 3 so arranged as to form a plurality of openings and on top of these blocks are mounted two blocks a of the same length as the blocks 1 and adapted to close the window openings 5 and central door openings 6. The blocks 3 are noticeably shorter than the blocks 2.

At each end of said blocks 1, 2, 3 and 4 are provided a plurality of blocks 7 superposed over one another} and of the width of the house. Above said blocks are mounted a plurality of blocks 8 noticeably shorter in length than the blocks 7 and so spaced apart as to form a window opening 9 and 10 are blocks preferably of the same length as the blocks 7 mounted above said blocks 8 and adapted to close said opening 9. The blocks 7, S, and 10 must correspond in height and number to blocks 1, 2, 3 and 4: in order that the sides of the house as well as the the ends will be of the same height.

Above the top blocks 10 which are pro vided at each end of the house two triangular members 11 and 12 are provided which are adapted to form a V shape member supporting the roof boards 13 and 1a. The roof boards 13 and 14; are preferably secured together at one of their edges by a pasted strip 15 or any other suitable means and 16 is the chimney which is saddled over the apex of the angle formed by the roof, the said chimney comprising a square block having a V-shaped cut 17 on one side thereof which is adapted to fit snugly over the roof.

In the front side of the house are pro vided the blocks 18 which are disposed at right angle in. relation to the blocks 1 and 19 is a step composed of two blocks and a third block superposed over one of said blocks, said step block being disposed parallel to the sides of the house and forming in combination with the blocks 18 a base or support for the floor board 20.

Provided on top of said floor board 20 are four posts 21 and 22, the posts 21 being mounted against the sides of the house and cut at an angle at their uppermost end, while the posts 22 preferably shorter in length than the post 21 and cut at their uppermost end at a corresponding angle, the said posts being adapted to support the incline roof board 23.

At their lower ends and between said it is preferred to show a log or board house the plain side of the block is used.
