To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, VARREN fh. BROWNE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hempstead, in the county of Nassau and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Electrically-Heated Draft Devices, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in toys, and pertains more particularly to a device used in connection with the toy disclosed in my former application Serial No. 232,567, allowed June 25th, 1918.

In the application above mentioned, there is shown a toy of the revolving type, which is operated by a draft or current of air, and it is the object of the present invention to provide means for inducing the draft or current of air necessary for revolving said to lVith the above objects in view, reference is had to the accompanying drawings in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of the complete device.

Referring more particularly to the drawings the device comprises'a base 1 which is provided with a centrally arranged lamp socket 2 to which leads an electric conductor 3. Carried by the base 1 is a handle 4 by which the device is manipulated or moved from place to place.

Extending vertically from said base 1 at spaced intervals are resilient fingers 5, the upper ends of which are bent outwardly as at 6, and secured to, and supported by said fingers 5 near their lower ends but at a point above the base 1, there is a ring 7 which is rigid in construction, and serves to brace the vertical fingers 5.

Adapted to be supported on the ring 7, and retained thereon by means of the flexible fingers 5 is a chimney or tube 8. This tube or chimney 8 is preferably formed of metal, but the same may be made of glass or any other suitable material.

This clamp 11 is substantially Y-shaped and is formed of resilient metal in order that it may frictionally engage the chimney and be retained in place by said frictional en gagement.

15 and 16 of the Y-shaped member, the means by which the clamp is frictionally held in place on the top of the chimney. T he vertically extending standard 10 is supported by the stem 12 of the Y- shaped member in such a manner that its longitudinal axis is substantially in alinement with the longitudinal axis of the chimney.

In operation, an incandescent lamp 17 is screwed into the socket 2, and the chimney 8 is placed in position with its lower end resting on the ring 7. If now the incandescent lamp 1'? is lighted, the heat generated thereby will rise in the chimney 8. The heat rising in the chimney 8 will cause a current of air to pass into the bottom of the chimney, as shown by the arrows in Fig. 2, and thus a current or draft is set up to cause rotation of the toy mounted on the vertically extending standard 10.

Having thus described the invention what is claimed is:

1. A device of the character described, comprising, a base provided with a lamp socket, a plurality of resilient members projecting vertically from said base, and a chimney supported by said resilient members with its lower end spaced from said base, and a revolving toy supported on the upper end of the chimney.

2. A device of the character described, comprising, a base, a plurality of resilient members projecting vertically from said base and arranged in spaced relation, a rigid ring carried by said resilient members, at a point above said base, and a chimney supported on said rigid ring, the lower end of said chimney being spaced from the upper face of said base, and a revolving toy arranged above said chimney.

3. A device of the character described comprising, a base, a plurality of resilient members projecting upwardly from said porting said chimney within the confines of said vertically extending resilient members with its lower end in spaced relation with 10 the said base, and a revolving toy sup orted by the chimney for the purpose speci ed.
