Description

manna s'mrns Parana,
canton nnenvo A; MARTINEZ, or BUENOS AIRES, AR ENTINA, Assrenon xro rnnao EUGENYIO GIRARD, or BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA. I
IGNITING SUBSTANCE.
Be it known that I, Rnemo ALEJANDRO MARTINEZ, a citizen of the Argentine Republic, residing at No. 452 Corrientes street,
Buenos Aires, Argentine Republic, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Igniting Substances, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention refers to an igniting substance susceptible of being applied to a combustible body and has for its object an igniting paste intended to be applied directly to the body or substance which it is required to ignite.
The present invention has also for its object a composition which by means of friction permits of setting fire to the aforementioned paste.
The paste in accordance with the present invention may be used in many ways, being specially applicable to cigars and cigarettes, thus dispensing with the use of matches.
The paste to which this invention refers possesses, over all others proposed up to the present, the advantages of reduced cost, freedom from substances harmful to health, the fact that it produces neither noise nor flame on ignition, that it is not harmed by dampness, and finally, that it cannot ignite by itself, it being necessary for the latter purpose to bring it into frictional contact with a special paste which is also comprised in the present invention.
The principal paste, designed to set fire to the required body, is constituted by the following elements, substantially in the proportions specified:
Chlorate of potassiiun Bichromate of potassium" 2% Starch Sawdust 10% Tragacanth gum 3% Vegetable charcoal 10% This composition is weak and cannot be set alight by friction.v v
It is ignited by means of another sensitive composition or paste composed as fol- Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented M51227, 1920.
Application filed June 30, 1919. Serial No. 307,851.
lows and substantially in the proportions indicated:
Chlorate of potassium Sulfid of antimony 30% Gum arabic 8% Biohromate of potassium; 2% Glass powder 10% Bioxid of lead; 5%
This paste ignites only 011 friction with a special paste which forms a rough surface and which may be applied to any independ ent body, and the composition of which is as follows:
Amorphous phosphorus 30% Sulfid'of antimony 18% Glass powder 35% Bichromate of potassium 2% Glue 15% It is evident that slight changes may be made in the composition of the several pastes and that they may be applied to the body determined in the claims which follow this specification.
Having now specifically described and determined the nature of the present invention and the method of its employment, I declare that what I claim as my invention and exclusive right 7 is i 1. A new industrial product consisting in an inflammable substance capable of being applied directly to the objects or bodies which are to be ignited, characterized by the fact that it is constituted by an igniting paste applied directly to the required body and answering substantially to the formula:chlorate of potassium 35%; bichromate of potassium 2% starch 40% sawdust 10%; tragacanth gum 3%; vegetable charcoal 10%.
2. A composition intended to permit of the ignition by friction-of the inflammable paste, in accordance with claim 1, characterized by the fact that it answers substantially to the formula :amorphous phosphorus 30%; sulfid of antimony 18%; glass powder 35%; bichromate of potassium 2%; glue 15%, substantially as described and for 5 the purposes specified.
3. A new industrial product consisting of an inflammable substance capable ofbeing applied directly to the objects or bodies which are to be ignited, and a sensitive paste
