TOMS GNGORA, OF SAN 'AJ"I.O1\TIOJ TEXAS.
MANS GARMENT.
Application led February 12, 1318.
To all yw/wmz't may concern:
Be it known that l, TOMS GNGonA, a citizen of Mexico, and a resident o San Antonio, in the county of Bexar and State of Texas, have invented new and useful lmprovements in Mens Garments, of which the following is a specification.
ltly invention is an improvement in men"s garments, and has for its object to provide a garment of the character specified which is reversible, and wherein a seam is used making the stitches appear the same on both sides of the garment.
ln the drawings:
Figure 1 is perspective view of pair of trousers constructed in accordance with the invention;
Fig. 2 is section on the line f-Q of Fig. 4A.;
`Fig. 3 is a view similar to Fig. 2, show.- ing the parts in another position;
Fig. 1 is a front view or" a modiiied form of pocket, from the outside; and
Fig. 5 is a similar view from the inside.
ln the present embodiment of the invention, a pair of trousers 1 is provided, the said trousers having the usual waist band Q1 and having pockets 3.
' The waist band 21 has two extensions 9 and 10 at the closing flaps of the trousers, the said extensions extending beyond the said closing flaps, and each extension has a button-hole which is adapted to engage a button 1l on the body of the waist band, the said buttons being spaced from the flaps as shown. Gne of the flaps has buttonholes12, and the other has buttons 13 for engagement by the button-holes to close the flap, and the buttons are on the inner side of the flap so that when the garment is reversed the buttons will be hiddenA when the naps are closed. One or' the buttons 11 is on the outer face of the band and the other is on the inner, so that when the garment is in normal or reversed condition one button will be outside and the other inside.
As shown in Fig. 2, the waist band is composed of two strips ot' material which are stitched at their upper edges, the edges being turned in, and at their` lower edges the strips are placed on opposite sides of the body of the garment and stitched thereto, the edges being turned in.
To provide pockets, the garment 1 is slit at the pocket, as indicated at 15, and the pocket 16 is made from a separate piece of the cloth. This pocket is supported by support- Spec'lcation of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 20, 1920.
Serial No. 216,775.
ing bands 17, which are arranged on the outer and inner faces of the garment, and the upper edges or" the pockets are stitched to the bands, as indicated. at 1S, the upper edges of the bands being turned in and stitched at the same point. The lower edges of the bands are hemmed, as indicated at 19, and the ends of the bands are stitched to the garment, as indicated at 20. The pocket is thus supported by the bands, and it is accessible rom either side and may be reversed, as shown in Fig.
lVhen the garment shown is reversed, the pocketA is drawn through the slit 15 on to the opposite side of the garment, as shown in Fig. 3. All of the seams of the garment are made the same on both sides of the garment, so that when the garment is turned the appearance of the turned side is the same as that of the other side.
I claim:
1. A reversible garment having slits forming pocket openings, and pockets in connection with the garment at each opening, said pockets being accessible from either face of the garment, each pocket being connected to the garment at its top only to swing through the slit to either face of the garment, said pockets being connected to the garment by reinforcing bands at their tops secured at their ends to the garment and intermediate their ends to the pocket, and that portion of the garment above the slit depending into the pocket.
2. A reversible garment having slits torming pocket openings, and pockets in connection with the garment at each opening, said pockets being accessible from either face of the garment, each pocket being connected to the garment at its top only to swing through the slit to either tace of the gar ment, said pockets being connected to the garment by reinforcing ban ds at their tops secured at their ends to the garment and intermediate their ends to the pocket.
3. A reversible garment having slits torming pocket openings, and pockets in connection with the garment at each opening, said pockets being accessible from either face of the garment, each pocket being connected to the garment at its top only to swing through the slit to either Jface of the garment.
