Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 133,763, dated December 10, 1872.
tral vertical section; and Figs. 3, 4, 5 are planv views of the liquid-receptacle or trap, the ba'se piece, and the top piece, respectively.
All the parts of the pedestal are formed of cast metal. The circular base A and top piece C are of similar size and shape, and have each screw holes formed through them to adapt them to be attached, respectively, to the door and the bottom of the safe or other article to be supported. The piece C is fitted on the upper end of a standard, C, which enters a socket formed in the upper end of the stock or standard B, the latter being tenoned at its lower end to iit into a central socket-hole in the base A. A clamp-screw, E, serves to secure the same against turning, and also permits adjustment of safes at different heights. A basin or receptacle for holding water or other liquids for preventing vermin from passing up to the Safe is cast solid with or suitably attached to the stock B, and is provided with a cock to dis` charge its contents when refilling is requisite.
Thus constructed, the .pedestal forms a support for safes, 8vo., upon which they maybe freely turn ed or rotated, also vertically adjusted, and are perfectly protected from pests that Would otherwise render them unsuitable or uusafe receptacles for any article of food. It is practically indestructible, notexpensive, and
is measurably ornamental; also, while acting as a protector in the manner specified, it obviates the necessity of providing any other support for the safes, 8vo., thereby often lessening the cost of constructing them.
As a manufactured article it may be readily transported and sold like stoves or other kitchen and dining-room furniture.
I therefore claim- As a new. article of manufacture, the pedestal and protector for food-safes, te., herein described, formed by the combination oi' the top piece C and its pivot-post C', clampscrew E, stock or standard B, liquid-receptacle D, and base A, all as specified.
