. To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, HARRY F. 'VVAITE, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, county of Queens, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in X-Ray Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to provide a light and portable. X-ray apparatus, which may be placed in any desired position and may be used to any 'desired'extent without regard to climatic conditions or disturbances and without danger to any one from high tension feed wires or other high tension partsof the apparatus. A further objectv is to provide an apparatus in which the X-ray tube is immersed in oil and so are all exposed parts which are energized when the tube is in use so that under no circumstances can there be any leakage'of high tension current from one terminal to another, such as sometimes occurs when" such devices are placedin air.
These and other objects are accomplished by my invention one embodiment of which is shown in the annexed drawing, forming a part -hereof, in which the figure is at perspective, fragmentary view, .with the electrical connections shown diagrammatically:
My improved apparatus consists of a box .or casing 1 which is preferably made of metal and is oiltight, so that it will hold transformer oil-without leakage. Its top 2 is preferably made of fiber. The casing is lined with metal except at its center where it is provided withmetal slides 3 by means of which the opening for the X-raysgenerated by the; tubel may be regulated. The

as indicated by the line near the top of the casing 1. f K v The tube 4 is supported by suitable pedestals 6, one at each end, which rise from the bottom 7 of the box .1, and these pedestals carry wires which run to the anode 28 and hot cathode 29 respectively of the tube 1.

One terminal of the secondary 9 is connected to the wire 2 .1 and the other terminal ofthe secondary v 9 is connected by a wire 25 to the opposite terminal of the cathode 29; The current passing through the hot cathode 29 may be regulated through the controller 21.
