BENJAMIN PAGE, OF ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, INDIANA.
IMPROVEMENT IN HORSE AND CATTLE POKES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 133,334, dated November 26, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, BENJAMIN PAGE, of St. Joseph county and State of Indiana, have invented certain Improvements in Horse or Cattle Pokes, of which the following is a specification:
A represents an ordinary bow of suflicient size to fit the neck of an animal. B represents a Wedge-shaped board, the front end being fastened to the lower ends of'bowA by means of an iron or wooden pin, and projecting backward and under the throat of the animal, and of sufficient width to fill the lower ends of the bow, and about one foot in length. 0 represents a poke-stick fastened into the center of the front end of the board B. D represents an iron pin, through the end of the iron pin,- running through the lower ends of bow A and the front endof board B aforesaid, the pin D having a right-angle bend at one end, and this end fastened in one side of how A aforesaid, so as to hold the pin running through the ends of the same stationary. This bow fit ting reasonably close to the neck of the animal, as the head is raised the board B will cause the poke-stick O to be thrown forward,
thus preventing his jumping; and'as his head The Wedge-shaped boa-rd B, in connection with the bow A, the iron pin D, the poke-stick G, substantially and for the purpose above described.
