VAPGR CROUP-KETTLE Application filed January 2, 1919.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, CLIFFORD P. HAGUE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hartford, in the county of Hartford and State of Connecticut, have invented new and useful Improvements in Vapor Group-Kettles, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has reference generally to improvements in Vaporizers, and more particularly relates to a vapor or croup kettle.
It is the principal aim and object of the present invention to provide a device of the above mentioned character designed for effectively heating liquids to produce a vapor which is used as a treatment for tuber culosis, catarrh, colds, et cetera.
It is an equally important object of the invention to provide a device of the above mentioned character wherein the several parts are capable of being readily and removably connected to each other so as to be placed into an operative position or else disconnected and arranged in a compact form when it is not desired to use same, while the parts are also of such construction that they may be readily cleaned or replaced.
More specific objects of the invention consists in the provision of the support which is capable of receiving gas or electrically heating means as desired; to provide an improved construction and relation between the kettle, nozzle and strainer; and to provide improved means for removably connecting the kettle proper to the support.
It is an additional object of this invention to provide a device of the above mentioned character which is simple in construction, thoroughly reliable and efficient in its purpose and inexpensive in manufacture.

The invention accordingly consists in the features of construction, the combination of elements and the arrangement of parts which 46 will be exemplified in the construction hereinafter described and the scope of the application of which will be indicated in the appended claims.
The invention is clearly illustrated in the 60 accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of the device.

ployed in all of the above described views, to indicate corresponding parts.
Referring now, more particularly, to the accompanying drawings there is provided substantially cylindrical support 1 formed of suitable material and provided with draft openings 2, the lower portion being slightly flared outwardly to assure of the maintenance of the support in an upright position. A handle 3, of the conventional construction is connected to the support to facilitate the handling thereof. Disposed on the upper edge of the support is a kettle which terminates in an eXteriorly threaded collar 5 at its upper end While an annular bead or rib 6 is formed about the lower edge of the kettle and projects outwardly therefrom for purpose that will presently appear. Suitable retaining means in the present instance consisting of a plurality of spring clips 7 are employed and secured at spaced intervals to the outer surface the support near the upper edge thereof and projected slightly above the upper edge so as to readily engage the bead or rib 6. Each clip consists of a securing portion 8 connected by suitable fasteners 9 to the support, while the catch,
10 continues from the bead and terminates in a combined guide and finger piece 11 which is constructed to facilitate the application of the kettle and at the same time serves as a means for facilitating the detaching of the clips, as is apparent.
A cup like strainer 12 is now employed and is formed with perforations 13 in the bottom thereof, while an annular flange 14: projects upwardly from the upper edge of the strainer and is seated on the upper edge of the collar 5 but does not project beyond the outer surface of the collar, as indicated.
A nozzle generally designated by the numeral 15 is now employed and is substantially elbow-shaped, the inner portion being enlarged as at 16 and provided with internal threads 17 and hasdetachable threaded engagement with the eXteriorly threaded collar 5, while the outer portion is tapered or restricted as at 18 for assuring of the protection of the fine spray therethrough when the I cylindrical configuration, being seated within the support and this bracing frame serves as a means for properly supporting a conducting pipe at the outer end of which is connected a gas. burner 21, the latter being positioned concentrically of the bracing frame. A combined nipple and valve 22 is connected to the opposite. end of the pipe and has connection with a gas conducting tube 23, the pipe 20 being insertible in a slot 24: in the upper edge of the support, preparatory to the connection of the kettle.
In Fig. 3 there is shown a slightly modified form of heating means instead of using gas as a heating medium, an electrical heating element 25 is positioned on the bracing frame and is formed with an extension 26 which is seated in the slot in the support. A suitable switch, designated by the numeral 27 is employed for controlling the flow of current to the heating element.
It is believed in view of the foregoing description that a further detailed description of the operation of the invention is entirely UHDBCGSSZHY. Likewise it is believed that the advantages of the invention will be readily apparent.
As many changes could be made in the above construction and many apparently widely difierent embodiments of this invention could be made without departing from the scope thereof it is intended that all matter contained in the above description or shown in the accompanying drawings shall be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limited sense. It is also to be understood that the language used in the following claims is intendedtocover all the generic and specific features of the invention herein described and all statements of the scope of the invention which as a matter of language might be said to fall therebetween.
What is claimed is 1. A device of the character described consisting of a. cylindrical support, a kettle seated on the upper edge of the support and formed with an annular rib on the lower edge thereof, catch means carried by the sup port for engagement with the rib on the kettle to retain the kettle against displacement, an exteriorly threaded collar projecting from the kettle, a cup like strainer formed with an annular flange for seating on the upper edge of the collar, an interiorly tl'ircaded nozzle detachably engaged with the cxteriorly threaded collar, a handle projecting from the support, and heatin means mounted in the support and disposed beneath the kettle.
2. A vaporizer of the character described consisting of a support, a handle connected thereto, bracing frame mounted in the support, heating means mounted in the support and in the bracing frame, a kettle body formed with an exterior annular rib at the lower edge thereof seated on the upper edge of the support, catch means carried by the sup-port for engaging the rib, an exteriorly threaded collar formed at the top of the kettle, a cup like strainer formed with an annular flange seated. on the upper edge of the collar, and a spraying nozzle detachably connected to the collar,
