PIGKLE-FORK HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 6, 1920.
Application filed October 9, 1917. Serial No. 195,515.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES AUSTEN LEWIS, a subject of the King of Great Britain, and resident of the city of Toronto, county of York, Province of Ontario, in the Dominion of Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pickle- Fork Holders, described in the following specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, that form part of the same.
The objects of the present invention are, to provide a means for holding a pickle fork on a bottle in such a manner as to avoid soiling the table cloth, and to provide a holder into which the fork may be readily inserted and which will hold the same securely and further to devise a readily placed upon any size or shape of bottle.
The principal feature of the invention consists in the novel construction of the holder whereby a pocket shaped receptacle is secured by a flexible extensible band to the side of the bottle and a clamp member is arranged above the receptacle to engage and hold the fork handle.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view showin my device attached to a bottle with the for held in place therein.
Fig. 2 is aside elevational view of the holder.
3 is a front elevational holder.
Fig. 4: is a perspective view of the holder removed from the bottle.
Like numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts in each figure.
Referring to the drawings, 1 is a pocket shaped member preferably formed of thin sheet metal, having a perpendicular back 2 adapted to rest against the face of the bottle.
The side walls 3 slope inwardly from the top and at the upper edge are flared outwardly forming the flanges 4:.
The front Wall of the pocket is formed to view of the holder which may be.
slope upwardly and outwardly from the back and forms a guide to direct the points of the fork inwardly so that the points will always rest in the apex of the wedge-shaped pocket.
5 is a stem which extends upwardly from the center of the back 2 having at its upper end forwardly projecting fingers 6 forming spring clips adapted to engage and hold the handle of the fork 7.
The longitudinal edges of the stem 5 are bent outwardly to form the hook shaped flanges 8 which are adapted to receive the looped ends of the elastic band 9. One loop of the band 9 is inserted in one of the hook flanges 8 and the band is then drawn around the bottle and the other loop end inserted in the other hook flange.
The double loops of the band 9 thus encircling the bottle are held apart by the length of the flanges 8 and they hold the device securely in a perpendicular position against the side of the bottle. The flexible band will of course accommodate itself to any shape or size of bottle.
The peculiar wedge shape of the receptacle holds the fork always close in to the bottle and also enables its being easily cleaned.
What I claim as my invention is 1. A pickle fork holder, comprising, a sheet metal member having inwardly turned portions on the longitudinal edges and a receptacle at the bottom and holding fingers at the top adapted to engage the handle of the fork, and means supported by the bottle for engaging said flanges to hold the holder thereto.
2. A pickle fork holder, comprising, a receptacle having an upright extension formed with longitudinal hook shaped flanges, spring clips extending forwardly from the top end of said extension, and an elastic band having its looped ends secured in said longitudinal hook flanges and extending around the bottle.
