To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MITCHELL L. RODDY,
of Cincinnati, county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Folding Hat-Racks; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the annexed drawing representing the same in perspective.
The nature of my invention relates to that class of hat-racks which is formed of strips of wood crossing each other, and at their. crossings and junctions work on pins or pivots. These strips consist of two layersthe one nearest the wall against which it is hung, and the other layer nearest the operator. The strips marked B extend a certain distance further up than the rest, and are each provided with a hole, I), which, passing over a nail or screw in the wall, supports the rack.
This device is much neater and more efficient than screw-rings, staples, or castings, while in respect to its cheapness it cannot be easily overcome. An additional advantage is that, being hung at the extreme top, the rack retains its position much better when loaded with coats, hats, 85c.
Having thus described the objects and use of my improvement, what I claim as new, and
desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
