To all whom t may concern:

Be it known that I, GUsTAr LINDBERG, a citizen of the United States, residing at Talla Walla, in the county of Walla Walla and State of Vashington, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Lasts, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to lasts used in the repair of shoes having high heel and pointed toes, and has for its object the production of a last whose curves are such as will conveniently reach any part of the shoe for which it is intended, and whose sharp edges will reach the fartherniost corners thereof.

This invention further consists of certain novel fea-tures which will be fully understood by reference to the description of the drawings and to the claiin hereinafter given.

Referring specifically to the drawings- Figure l is a side elevationof the last;

Fig. 3 is a section on the line 3 3 of Fie. 1.

Tn the drawings like ,numerals refer to like parts and l is the sole proper having a heel portion 2, a shank portion 3, and a toe portion 4. The heel and shank portions7 2 and 3 respectively, of the sole have convex surfaces 5 while the toe portion 4 is a flat plane.

By referring to Fig. l it will be noted that the curves shown in the dotted line 6, which represents the shape of the present high heel shoe, do not parallel the curved edges 7 of the last; the convex portion of the reverse curve, constituting the curve of the last, being of greater curvature than that of the shoe, and the concave portion being of less curvature than that of the shoe enables the last to be placed in close contact with any part of the sole of the shoe at will.

This last is a ,solid block of rnetal and is used with a stand, (not shown) and is recessed at 8 to engage the stand in the usual manner.

The underside 9 of the last is concaved to forni a sharp peripheral edge 7 about the sole and extends from the heel all the way around to the toe forming a uniformly sharp edge to the last.

By referring to Fig. 2 it will be noted that the curves shown in the dotted lines 10, which represents? a composite shape of the present pointed toed shoe, does not parallel the curves of the peripheral edges of the last, and in this the convex portion of the reverse curve is of greater curvature than Vthe corresponding curvature of the shoe,

the sole of the high heeled and pointed toed shoe of the present day effectually, is over come byfthis'last as by its curved surfaces and the design of the curves of the peripheral edge of the sole it will reach that part of the shoe, readily and eiectually, for which it is intended. y

Having ythus described my invention, I claini- A last composed of substantially a solid block, having a longitudinally curved sole consisting of reverse curves, the concave portion of which has less curvature than the corresponding curves of a shoe, and the convex portion of which has greater curvature than the corresponding curve of the shoe, and whose heel and shank portion is a laterally convexed surface, and whose toe portion is a flat plane, having concaved undersides extending from the heel all the way around to the toe, and having sharp Vperipheral edges curved about the sole, said edges.
