To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, GRANVLLLE- LLOYD HENDRIX, citizen of the United States, residing at Santa Rosa, in the county of Sonoma and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Neckties, of which the following is a specification.

My invention is a necktie which may be tied while it is either on or off and put on and taken off, while tied and without untying it. The tie also determines the position of its knot and the position of the fastener which fastens its neck loop.

My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing which forms a part of this specification and the appended claims.

Referring to the drawing:

Figure 1 is a front view of the tie as it is tied and worn.

Fig. 2 is a rear view of the tie looped and with the small end inserted through the strap which determines the position of the not and loop fastener.

Fig. 3 is a front view of a tie embodying a modification of my invention.

Fig. 4 is a rear view similar to Fig. 2 of a tie embodying the modification shown in Fig. 3.

Fig. 5 is a perspective view of a tie embodymg one form of my invention applied to a turn-over collar.

Fig. 6 is a perspective view of a tie embodying another form of my invention applied to a stand-up collar.

In the drawing, 1 indicates the large end member of the tie and 2 the small end member. These members are separate members and are detachably connected together at their connecting ends by a fastener 3, which is,? preferably, a snap fastener such as a glove fastener. On the inside at the connecting end of the large end member 1, 1s sewed a strap loop 4.

termine or definitely position the knot with the tie members 1 and 2 are tied. In fourin-ha'nd tie, as in a case shown, the member 2 will be slidable in the knot in order to secure the proper and desired adjustment of the knot relatively to the collar. The fastener 3 however, is to always lie in the neck band of the tie. The tie ma be put on after it is tied by disengaging the fastener 3 and slipping the connecting end of the small end member around the collar, and then fastening the'ends of the tie members together by means of the fastener. The tie also may e taken off without untying the knot simply by disengaging the fastener 3 and removing the loop end of the small end member 2 from the collar.

By putting the tie on and taking it off without untying the knot, the tie is prevented from wearing at the point where it is tied and the life of the tie is greatly extended.

In the form of my invention shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 5, the ends of the members 1 and 2 are fastened together in the front at pne side of the center of the turn-over col- In this embodiment it will be seen that the loop 4 and the fastener 3 have a definite co-relation, the loop locating the point where the knot is to be tied relative to the tie end 1, and further causing the fastener 3 to be positioned beneath the front edge of the collar flap where it is hidden but readily accessible (see Fig. 5).
