' GARMENT.
of which the following. is a specification.
This invention'relates to garments and more especially to bifurcated or union gar ments and its objectis to provide means at a convenient point to close the garment around the body of the wearer so that the front of the former will be without opening or seam and to strengthen and reinforce the garment around the neckof the same. e e v These and other details and objects of the invention will be more fully described inthe. following specification, set forth in the apaccompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is a front View of the upper part of the garment.
' Fig. 2 is a rear view of the same. v
Fig. 3 is a detail view of the closing flap unfastened.
In addition to symmetrical appearance at the front of the garment the placket which has heretoforebeen used in this class vof apparel, on account of the strain often put upon it, is apt to have its fasteningspulled out and the extremity of the opening'pulled out so that the garment is split and soon de 7 stroyed.
This is especially so if the garment is close fitting and to strengthen the same its front part 5 is made without a seam andaround the neck a strengthening yoke 6' is made and a reinforcing piece added for any desired depth to form a comfortable closure, especially in cold weather, and at a point Where the old style placket affords little protection against the entrance of cold air, and in addition the scratching of threads and buttons on that part of the body may be very disagreeable. s
Theyoke 6 has extensions 7 at each'side to cover the shoulders of the wearer and to GITEnsTnIN, a
7 other strip.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Dec. 2, 1919.
' Application filed November 24-, 1917. Serial No. 203,836. 7
these extensions are added the flaps 8 to lap over the shoulders as will be seen in Fig. 2
'The strip 9 conforms to the neck of the wearer and its ends cooperate withthe flaps 8 to suspend the garmenton his shoulders and have fastening means of any desired nature.
The strip 9 is shown provided with but- ."tons 11 while the flaps have button holes 12,
but it is obvious that glove fasteners or hooks and eyes may be also used and in re-' 1 moving or donning the garment and that either one or both of the flaps may be released and in case that one flap is opened, suflicient'room will be found to allow the entrance or exit of the head and shoulders of the wearer so that the garment may be then stripped oft the body by way of the legs of the wearer.
The arm holes 10 :may be edged with suitable binding 13 and a webbing 14'will provide for the girth of the wearer, while the lower art of the armentma be arran ed for any preferred construction.
It is obvious that this arrangement of a garment about the neck and shoulders of the same is not confined to a bifurcated garment only but any undergarment may be so provided without departing from the essential of the appended claim. f
What I claim as new is:
Ina garment, the combination witha onepiece garment separatedat its top, reinforcin strips at the top edge of the garment and conforming with the same, extension straps from and integral with one of the strips, and fastening means for thestraps on the features above describedor from the scope v ISRAEL. GITENSTEIN;
