To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that 1, JOHN Bram, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York, State of New York, have invented a new and useful Combination Ash-Sifter and Coal-Bin; and 1 do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and eXact description of the invention such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to an improved combination ash sifter and coal bin, and one of the objects of the invention is'to provide an improved device of this kind having an ash sifter which may be rocked or rotated for sifting the ashes. V H

A further object of the invention is to provide a sifting member which may be bodily removed from its supporting receptacle.

A further object of the invention is to provide a closure having a bearing for one of the pintles (which has a crank) of the sifter, and constituting means to support one end of the sifter.

A further object of the invention is the provision of a'casing divided into two compart-ments, one for the reception of the sifter, the other for the reception of coal, and in which other compartment, a suitable draining false bottom is arranged, whereby when dampe .ing or wetting the coal, the water may be drained off.

In practical fields, the details of construction may necessitate alterations falling within the scope of what is claimed.

.The invention comprises further features and combination of parts, as hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawings, and claimed.

In the drawings Figure 1 is a view in perspective of the combination ash sifter and coal bin, constructed in accordance with the invention.

spaced from the bottom proper of the casing. The bottom proper 8 of the coal compartment is provided with drain cock 9, for draining off the water, which is used for dampening the coal which makes the coal burn better. The openings 10 and 11 of said compartments 3 and t are covered by the

12 and 13, which are hinged at 1% adjacent the rear upper part of the easing and which closures are provided with handles 15 and 16. The compartment in the front wall of the casing has an opening 17, which is covered by the closure 18 hinged at 19. The closure 18 is provided with hooks 20 to enter the eyes 21, whereby the member 18 may be held securely closed. Said closure 18 has a handle 22, and is provided with a bearing 23. The rear wall of the casing adjacent the compartment 3 has a screw 24 threaded therein, which screw is provided with a socket 25. A suitable sifter 26 is arranged in the compartment 3, The sift-er is elongated, and rectangular in cross sect-ion. Owing to this rectangular construction, the ashes are thoroughly agitated, since they are thrown from one side to the other of the several faces of the sifter, whereby the dust of the ashes may be thoroughly separated from the cinders. In other words as the cinders are tossed or beaten from one face of the sifter to the other, as the sifter is rotated at a moderate speed, the dust becomes thoroughly dislodged from the cinders.
