UNITED STATES ARTHUR 0. BROWN, OF WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA.
COPY-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented. Nov. 11, 1919.
Application filed June 11, 1919. Serial No. 303,424.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ARTHUR 0. BROWN, a citizen of the United States, residing at 2621 24th street, NE, Washington, D. (3., have invented anew and useful Copy-Holder, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in copy holders for note books such as are usually employed by stenographers or reporters, and the object is to produce a device which will operate perfectly and as required, at all times, and which will be simple in construction and operation, and not liable to get out of order. These objects are accomplished by means of the construction disclosed in the following specification, of which the accompanying drawing forms a part. Similar numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts in the views.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device attached to a note book. Fig. 2 is a to plan view of the holder shown in Fig.
ily improved holder is composed of a single piece of wire, .or other suitable material, curved upon itself at 2 so as to form loops as shown, to grasp andto hold covers of books, and connected by horizontal bar 7 with ring 3 at the center of the bar.
The operation will be readily understood. The arms or loops of the holder are slipped over the backs of the book when placed back to back, and will hold the book at the required angle when resting on the lower edges of the backs. By moving the holder up or down on the backs of the books any desired" cilitate the operation of placing the holder on the backs of a book.
I claim:
1. A holder comprising a single piece of wire, having a coil formed intermediate its ends and having each of its ends bent at a right angle to the body thereof, and then rebent to have its return end lie alongside the immediate adjacent part and form a bookengaging loop, said loop and body portion being in the same plane.
2. A holder comprising a single piece of wire, having a coil formed intermediate its ends and having each of its ends bent at a right angle to the body thereof and then rebent to have its return end lie alongside the immediate adjacent part and form a book-engaging loop, said return end extending past the body and bent away therefrom at its extreme end, said loop, body and coil being in the same plane.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ARTHUR 0. BROWN.
