UNITED STATES "PATENT OFFICE;
GEORGE W. DAY, OF HAVERHILL, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR TO HIMSELF AND LUTHER DAY, OF SAME PLACE.
IMPROVEMENT IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF BLINDS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 132,142, dated October 15, 1872.
, Blind-Supporter; and do hereby declare the same to be fully described in the following specification and represented in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 denotes a side elevation of my invention as applied to a blind-frame, the connection being with the middle cross-bar of the frame; Fig. 2 is a bottom view of the same as connected to the lower cross-bar of the frame; and Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the device.
My invention relates to an improved device to be applied to window-blinds to prevent sagging thereof; and consists in the peculiar construction of the parts, as hereinafter fully set forth.
It is well known that the frames of blinds, as commonly constructed, are liable, after being used for a time, to become so sagged or thrown out of their true position as to render the working of them a matter of great inconvenience and difliculty. To provide a simple device which, when applied to a blind, will obviate this disadvantage and preserve the parts of the blind in their normal positions is the object of my invention.
the said device in one piece of malleable iron, the main or body portions A A being of a rectangular shape, and provided with screw-holes a b c, by which the device may be screwed to a blind-frame. The lower portions of the parts A and A are each bent inward at a right angle to the plane of their outer surfaces, so as to form shoulders or abutment's c d, which are to rest against the inner face of one of the vertical bars and the under surface of the contiguous cross-bar, as shown in the drawing, the shoulder or abutment (I having a screwhole by which, by means of a screw, the said part d may be firmly secured to and so as to support the cross-bar.
By making the device in manner as describedviz., with the brace A A and abutments 0 (1, formed and arranged with respect to each other, as set forththe invention, when applied to a blind, serves most effectually to maintain the parts in their normal positions.
What I claim is- As an improved article of manufacture, the
above-described blind-supporter, consisting of the parts A and A, respectively, provided with abutments or flanges c d, as and for the purpose set forth.
