To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, WILLIAM B. Rnnvn, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Des Moines, in the county of Polk and State of Iowa, have invented a certain new and useful Heater Device, of which the following is a specification.

The object of my invention is to provide a heater device designed to be used with oil or gas stoves and the like for better utilizing the heat therefrom.

With this and other objects in view my invention consists in the construction, arrangement and combination of the various parts of the device, whereby the objects eontemplated are attained, as hereinafter more fully set forth, pointed out in my claim and illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which:

Figure 1 shows a side elevation of a heater device embodying my invention, and used in connection with an oil stove.

Fig. 2 shows a top or plan view of the same with the sheet metal plate removed;

Fig. 3 shows a vertical, sectional view taken on the line 33 of Fig. 1.

In the accompanying drawings I have used the reference numeral 10 to indicate generally a small oil or gas stove of any ordinary type.

The object of my invention is to provide a heater device to be used in connection with a stove and comprising a sheet iron cylinder or drum 11, having in its lower end a series of strips or bars 12 secured to the walls of the cylinder 11 and extending downwardly and forming legs. At their lower ends the legs 12 are curved as at 13, forming a smooth supporting surface for the legs which will not tear rugs or the like, and also to receive a wire ring or the like 14, whereby the legs are reinforced and held in proper position.

At the upper end of the cylinder 11, a plurality of similar bars or strips 15 are secured, spaced from each other and extending upwardly from the cylinder. The members 15 are shorter than the members 12 and have similar curved portions 16 at their upper ends, which receive a wire ring 17. The cylinder 11 is provided with handles 18, as shown in Fig. 1.

A disk 19, of greater diameter than the cylinder 11, rests upon the upper ends of the members 15, as shown in Fig. 1.

The lower Wall of the cylinder 11 is provided with a sliding door 20 for permitting access to the controlling mechanism of the heater or stove 10.

In the practical use of the device it will be seen that the heat will be radiated from the wall of the cylinder 11, and also from the metal disk or plate 19.

The space from the lower end of the cylinder 11 to the floor is greater than the space from the upper end of the cylinder to the plate, for the reason that I have found that better results are secured in this way.

It will be seen that a circulation of air will be caused upwardly through the cylinder, and that the heated air will drive against the disk 19 and will then pass outwardly around the outer edges of the disk.

I have tested my heater device and find that a room can be heated faster and better with my improved heater device, than with the oil stove or heater alone.

The device is of very simple and inexpensive construction; can be readily moved from place to place except when hot. When it is hot some protecting device Will have to be used to grasp the handles 18.

Water may be warmed by setting it in a container on the disk 19, and the device may be used for keeping food warm, and for a great variety of similar purposes.

Some changes may be made in the construction and arrangement of the various parts of my improved heater device without departing from the essential features and purposes of my invention, and it is my intention to cover by my claim any modified forms of structure or use of mechanical equivalents which may be reasonably in cluded within their scope.

The material of which the device is made may be varied, and the size of the device may be such as will suit the purpose.

It may be used with a great variety of heaters and stoves, and is especially valuable in sections of the country where the weather is frequently chilly and Where it does not get cold enough to require the use or large heating stoves or furnaces.

I claim as my invention:
