JOSEPH homes, or Los ANGELES, CALIFORNIA.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH DOMECQ, a citizen of the Republic of France, residing at Los Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Hose Driers and Stretchers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a device more particularly designed for drying hose, preventing shrinkage thereof while so doing, and giving the hose a final smooth appearance.
In laundering hose it is desirable that they be dried upon forms. The objects of this invention are first, to provide a form which will allow the hose to dry rapidly;
second, to provide a form whereby the hose leg will be held tense upon the drier and prevented from shrinking; and third to provide a hanger with which the forms may be combined so that several forms may be hung in a compact space and added thereto or removed therefrom as desired.
With the above objects in view the invention consists of a form or frame having the general outline of a stocking or half hose,
- and so constructed that the form is expansible. A hanger for mounting upon the wall or in a like position is provided, the forms and hanger being so constructed that the former may be detachably supported thereon and moved therealong to any desired position.
These objects will be more fully understood, as will also other objects and corresponding accomplishments of my invention from the following detailed description of a preferred embodiment thereof. For the purpose of this description reference is had to the accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure l is a perspective view of a fragment of a wall with a support secured thereto and a single form mounted thereon; Fig. 2 is a section as seen on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1; and Fig. 3 is a front elevation.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, A indicates the form mounted upon the support B. The latter is secured in any suitable manner to the wall C. The frame support preferably consists of a straight rod 4 provided with feet or end brackets 5 and 6, by which the support is secured to the HOSE muss AND- STRETCHER.

wall. It will be noted that the rod 4 sets away from the wall.
The form comprises a single length of spring wire bent at an intermediate point to form a foot portion 7. One end of the leg portion of the form is looped to form a hook 8 for engagement with the supporting rod 4. The loop at the hook is made in such a manner that the form when hooked upon the supporting rod will have a bearing stabilizing it against swinging laterally.
The other end of the leg portion is bent to form a finger 9 which has a bearing upon the wall so as to hold the form from swinging sidewise. It will be noticed from an inspection of Fig. 2 that when the form is hung upon the supporting rod the frame will stand out away from the wall.
The hose in its wet condition is opened and a form slipped therein. To conveniently do this the leg portions are pressed toward each other to decrease their spread. After placing the form in the hose, the resiliency of the spring wire causes the form to spread and hold the hose under tension. The frame being open, air may circulate through the fabric, thus insuring its speedy drying. The frame with the hose stretched thereon may now be hung upon the supporting rod. This is done by hooking the frame over the supporting rod 4, allowing the finger 9 to rest against the wall.
Any number of frames can be employed, according to requirements. The frames with the wet hose thereon are moved toward one end of the supporting rod and left with a space sufficient for air to freely circulate between them. After the hose have dried the forms may be readily removed from the supporting rod and new forms containing wet hose hung thereon.
The frames may be made of different sizes to correspond with various sizes of hose, and are preferably made of non-corrodible metallic wire. 7
What I claim is:
1. In a device of the class described, the combination of a supporting rod spaced from a wall, a resilient frame for stretching hose having a hook at the top of the leg. portion for engagement withsaid rod and a finger disposed on the opposite side of said leg portion for resting against the wall.
2. In a device of the class described, the combination of a supporting rod spaced from a Wall, a frame composed of a single piece of spring Wire, embodying a foot part and a leg part, the terminals of said Wire being free from each other and disposed at the top of the leg part, one of the ter minals having a hook for engagement With said supporting rod and the other terminal having a finger for resting against said 10 Wall.
In Witness that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto subscribed my name this 4th day of March, 1919.
JOSEPH DOMECQ.
