To all-whom it may concern: 1 7
Be it known that I, EINAR Wns'rnnoann, a
citizen of the United States, residiin at.
Hollyoak, in the-county of Newcastle, tate of Delaware, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Glazier-Boxes; and
I do hereby declare the following to be a full,
tools, paint cans, putty, tacks, brads. and other paraphernalia ordinarily required and used for glazing purposes, thereby enabling j the user to readily procure therefrom the,
tools and accessories when engaged in glazing a roof or the like, the box bemg of novel form and is adjustable for its support in proper position for handy access to the user.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a box of this character, wherein the construction thereof permits easy and convenient handling of its contents, and for the convenience of theiuser in traveling, the box being designed to serve as a general handy box for any practical purpose andcan be set level on an incline so as to avoid the upsetting or turning over thereof.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a box of this character, which is extremely simple in construction, convenient, durable, reliable and eflicient in its purpose and inexpensive to manufacture.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts i as will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.
In the accompanying drawing: Figure 1, shows an end elevatlon of a box constructed in accordance with the invention, the same being disposed upon an incline in its level position.
Fig. 2, is a top plan view of the box with Fig. 4, is avertical transverse sectional elevation.
Fig. 5, is a fragmentary vertical sectional view taken through 'Ione of the legs'i'; if
Similar reference characters indicate correspondin parts, throughout "thei several views in t e drawings.
Referripg to the drawing in detail, the box comprises a substantial rectangularly shaped body 10, preferably made from sheet metal although the same-may be made from any other suitable material and can be of any desirable shape and dimensions. Slidable through the front of the body of the box 10 is a comparatively shallow drawer '11 which is supported on guide cleats 12 adjacent to the bottom of sai body and this drawer contains the necessary tools, for example, a hammer,: brushes or an other accessories, the
same may contain g ass.
At the front and rear of the body 10 and extending longitudinally thereof spaced from its side walls, are vertical partitions 13 forming, compartments 14, while between these partitions 13 is a nest of partitions 15, forming a series of different sizes of compartments, certain of which contain removable trays 16, while the others are adapted to receive tacks, brads, paint can and glazing tools, one of the latter compartments being formed with an inclined bottom 17, to support the tools at an inclination to assure easy accessibility and view thereof when contained in the box. Hinged to the rear wall of the body 10, is a swinging lid or cover-18, while bridging the front longitudinal rompartment 14 centrally thereof is a bridge plate 19 supporting a hasp eye 20, the cover or lid 18 being formed with a slot 21 for said hasp eye 20'to permit the fastening of the lid or cover closed.
On the front of the drawer 11 is a multiple hinged leaf hasp 22, the slotted leaf 23 of which is adapted to engage the hasp eye 20 so this drawercan be fastened closed.
Secured to opposite ends of the body 10, are handlebearings 24 to which is pivoted a bail handle 25 carrying a hasp 26 and engaging the hasp eye 20 when the handle is in lowered position for the fastening thereof. The cover or lid 18 is removably connected to the rear wall of the body 10 of the box and is adapted when closed to telescope over the open top of the body. 7
Detachabl and adjtzstably mounted at the opposite end; of the dy 10. are supporting Specification of LettersPatent. Patented July 1919, v Application filed Ju'ne14,1918. "serm no. 240,022 I legs 27, which are longitudinally slotted at 28 to receive bolts 29, removably fitted in the ends of the body 10 and carrying winged clamping nuts 30 so that the legs 27 can be adj ustably fastened to said ends of the body and vertically adjusted to bring the box to a level when resting upon an inclined base or roof, the le s 27 when removed being laced within the body of the-box and likewise the bolts 29 are disengaged and placed within said box.
From the foregoing it isthought that the construction and manner of the use of the box will be clearly understood and therefore a more extended explanation has been omit- Whatis claimed is:
A box of the character described, comprising a body having a slidable drawer in its lower portion, a plurality of partitions are bridging relation over oneof the compartments and received in the opening in the cover, a hasp on the drawer and engageable with the hasp eye, a bail handle swinginglyconnected to the body and having a has engageable with said hasp eye, and detach able and adjustable legs mounted on opposite ends of the body for supporting the latter level when resting on an incline.
In testimony whereof, I afiix my signature, in the presence of two witnesses.
