UNITED STATES PATENT WILLIAM E. DEAN, OF WORCESTER, MASSACHUSETTS.
INIFROVEN'ENT IN SCROLL-SAWING MACHINES.
Speciiicniion forming part of Letters Patent No. 30,623, dated August 1872.
SPECIFICATION;
Specification describing e certain Improvement in Scroll-Sewing Machines, invented by WILLIAM E. DEAN, of the city and county of Vorcester, and Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
My invention rela-tes to the upright beams which connect the two chords or bars of the gate, which two chords hold the scroll-sew in its place. In my invention the bemn connected with the upper chord is in the form of e guide-rod, which passes through an extension ofthe lower chord, and in which it is held by al screw, so that the upper chord can be put at any desired distance from the lower chord.
Figure l in the dra-wing, is a front elevation of a machine embodying Iny invention. Fig. 2 is ai side View ofthe same. Fig. 3 shows the guide-rod A attached to the upper chord of the gate, passing through a hole inthe extension of the lower chord B, and the fastening ot' the same by ai screw. F F is the upper chord ofthe gate, and B B is its lower chord. A A are the 'guide-rods permanently attached to the upper chord F, but movable-as to the lower by the screw D.
Having described 1n y invention, whEtI claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The construction, so that the upper chord can be put at any dista-nce from the lower, by the means shown and described.
