Description

H. I. LUND,
BOILEH CLEANING APPARATUS.
APPLICATION HLED NOV- 2l. 1916.
Patented May 6, 1919.
Hnfmbefguad HANS JENBERG LUND, OF SKIEN, NORWAY.
BOIIER-CLEANING .APPRATUS Specification of Letters Patent.
ratentea May e, 1919.
Application led November 21, 1916. Serial No. 132,601.
To all whom t may concern Be it known that I, HANs .InNBnne LUND, a subject of the King of Norway, residing at Skien, Norway, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Boiler-Cleaning Apparatus; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing-s, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specifica`- tion.
This invention relates to an apparatus more particularly designed for cleaning such parts of boilers as are difficult of access, such as the fire boxes and the like.
An embodiment of the invention is illustrated on the annexed drawing, which shows the apparatus in side elevation.
At the front end of a tube 1, which is kept in position against the Wall 2 of the boiler and the wall 3 of the rebox by means of a hoop-shaped member 4 and adjustable spring 5, the latter of which can be adjusted by means of screw 7 is provided an arm 8 having pivoted on its free end a lever 9 whose other end 10 is shaped into a hammer head. On the top side of the said lever 9 is secured one end of a link 12 which is connected with Copies ot this patent may be obtained for nve cents each, by addressing the a rod 13 extending through and out of the tube 1 and provided on its free end with a handle 14 for actuating the hammer head to strike with its edge against the boiler wall. The rod 13 may be extended by members adapted to be screwed thereon for the purose. The tube 1 may likewise be extended Jy means of a tube adapted to be screwed into the nut 15 provided on said tube 1.
I claim.
In a boiler cleaning apparatus, includin a tubular shaft, a rod mounted therein an a hammer pivotally connected to the front end of said tubular shaft and adapted to be actuated by means of said rod; a guiding device adapted to keep the working end of the apparatus at a predetermined distance from the wall of the boiler, said guiding device comprising a hoop-shaped member mounted on one side of said tubular shaft, and an `adjustable spring carried by said tubular shaft so as to be diametrically opposed to said hoop-shaped member.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention, I have signed my name in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
HANS JENBERG LUND.
