This invention relates to a printing press mechanism, and pertains especially to a mechanism associated therewith for delivering the printed product. Printing presses adapted to print several sheets, such as multi-deck presses which print a number of webs are usually supplied with folding, associating, cutting, collecting and delivering mechanism. The press and last mentioned mechanism is commonly built as a unitary structure so that the point of delivery of the product with respect to the press is fixed.
It is an object of this invention to provide a printing press of the class above described, having associating, folding, cutting, collecting and delivering mechanism which will deliver the printed product in any one of the various selected positions.
I accomplish these objects by means of the embodiment of my invention illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:

Fig. 5 is a perspective view of my improved associating and delivering mechanism as applied to a press, only part of the frame work of the press and one of the rolls being shown.
Referring particularly to Figs. 1 and 2, the frame of a triple deck web press is indicated by 6. Webs of paper which are printed upon are indicated by dot and dash lines a, b and 0. Web 04 passes between rolls 7 and 7 web 6 passes between rolls 8 and 8, while web 0 passes between rolls 9 and 9. Each web is delivered at different levels from the printing mechanism.
The associating and delivering mechanism indicated generally by 11 is shown in Figs. 1
and 2 in position to deliver the printed product endwise of the machine. In the position shown, the web cf is led over the conducting roll 10, and between the associating rolls 12 and 13. Web 6 is conducted from rolls 8 and 8 between rolls12 and 13. Web a is led from between rolls 9 and 9' to the associating rolls 12 and 14. Webs a and b as they come in superimposed relation from the associating rolls 12 andlS-arepassed between rolls 1.2 and 14 so that as the webs leave the associating rolls they are superimposed upon one another and ready to be folded, cut, collected and delivered.
The associating and delivering mechanism 11 is of a well known type such as is used with Hoe or GOSS printing presses. It may include mechanism for folding transversely, cutting, collecting and delivering. The details of this structure is not a feature of my invention, the inventive idea being contained in the feature whereby the mechanism 11 may be turned to deliver at several points.
The mechanism 11 is driven from a vertical shaft 15 which has mounted upon its lower end a bevel gearing 16. Meshing with bevel gear 16 is a bevel gear 17 which is moiuited on a shaft 18, and has secured thereto a bevel gear 19 meshin with the operating gearing of the press. he framework 20 of mechanism 11 is mounted upon a plate 21 which is rotatably mounted upon the bed plate 22. Plate 21 is provided with an aperture 23 of circular form, which has the inner wall thereof rabbeted as indicated at 24. A circular plate 25 having a peripheral edge with a rabbet complementary to raibbet 24 is disposed within the aperture. Plate 21 is shown secured to the bed plate 22 by bolts 26. The shaft 15 is mounted in a foot step bearing 27 formed in the plate 25. By reason of the structure just described the frame 20 may be moved about a pivotal axis which corresponds with the axis of the shaft 15. This movement may be effected without affecting the driving of the associating and delivering mechanism 11. i
There are three positions in which the mechanism 11 is designed to deliver the printed matter, namely; in line with the press and at either side of the press. In order to lock the frame 11 in any one of the selected positions, I have provided the plate 21 with an aperture 28 arranged to register With apertures 29, 30 and 31 formed in the bed plate 22. A pin 32 having a suitable hand head is provided for insertion in the aperture 28, and one of the selected apertures 29, 30 or 81. The delivering mechanism is moved into the selected position and pin 32 dropped into aperture 28 and the registering aperture in plate 22, thereby locking the mechanism in position.
It Will be noted that when the printed product is delivered in line With the machine the Webs a, Z; and c are fed directly to the associating and delivering mechanism and there is no longitudinal folding. The'mechanism may be used for longitudinal folding Where it is disposed to deliver to either side. The Webs a, b and 0 are then led over roll 10 in superimposed relation and to the external folders 12 and 13.
It is obvious that I have provided an associating and delivering mechanism whereby a press maybe used to deliver Webs Without longitudinal folding, or by turning the associating and delivering mechanism to the side it may be used for longitudinally folding the Webs. The press, When used,
with the longitudinal folding mechanism, can be arranged to deliver to either side of the press.
What I claim is:
1.' The combination with a multi-Web printing press, of an associating and delivering mechanism, comprising a single frame mounted to be moved about a pivotal axis whereby the place of delivery of the printed product may be changed, said frame provided with rollers to receive the Web direct in one position of the frame or folded in another.
2. The combination of a multi-Web printing press, of an associating and delivering mechanism, comprising a single frame mounted to be moved about a pivotal axis whereby the place of delivery of the printed product may be changed, and actuating means connecting the gearing of said press and the gearing of said associating and delivering mechanism, said frame provided with rollers to receive the Web direct in one position of the frame or folded in another.
