To all whom it may concern.

Be it known that I, WALTER H. Hnwns, a citizen of the United States, residing at Saco, in the county of York and State of Maine, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Grates for Ovens; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to a grate structure to be placed in the baking oven of a stove, and the primary object of the inventionis to provide a grate structure which includes a plurality of standards having a pair of horizontally positioned frames adjustably connected thereto for vertical adjustment along the standards, and to provide pan supporting plates which are rotatably carried by the horizontally positioned supporting frames.

Another object of this invention is to provide tracks which are carried by the horizontally positioned supporting frames and receive casters or rollers which are carried by the rotatable pan supporting grate for facilitating the rotary movement of the grates and preventing them from sagging under the weight of the pan.

With the foregoing and other objects in view this invention consists in such novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and claimed.

In describing the invention in detail reference will be had to the accompanying drawing wherein like characters designate like and corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which:

Fig. 3 is a horizontal plan illustrating one of the supporting plates of the grate structure attached to the vertical supporting standards,

Fig. 5 is a detail view illustrating the manner of adjustably connecting the corners of the horizontally adjustable frames to the vertical supporting standards.

Referring more particularly to the drawings, 1 designates a cooking stove of an ordinary construction which is provided with a baking oven 2. The improved oven grate structure which is generically indicated by the numeral 3, includes a plurality of standards a which have enlarged bases 5 mounted upon their lower ends. The standards 4: are held in vertical position within the oven 2 by the enlarged bases 5, The standards 1 adjustably support racks 6. The racks 6 are rectangularly shaped in plan and have collars '7 formed at their corners, which collars are slidably mounted upon the standards 4, and held in adjusted position by means of set screws 8, as clearly shown in Fig. 5 of the drawings.

In Fig. 1 of the drawings, two of the racks 6 are provided, but it is to be understood that any number of racks may be provided without departing from the spirit of this invention.

Each of the racks 6 has a circular track 10 carried thereby which is provided with a concave portion 11 formed in its upper sur face. The track 10 is carried by a plurality of braces 12. The braces 12 converge and are connected at the center of the track 10, forming a solid portion which has a depend ing lug 13 formed upon its under surface, which lug and solid portion rotatably receive the spindle 14 of the rotary grate structure 15. The rotary grate structure 15 is circular shaped in plan, comprising an outer ring or rim 16, which is carried by a plurality of radiating braces 17 which radiate from the center 18 of the grate structure.

The rim 16 of the grate 15 has a plurality of plates 20 attached thereto which rotatably support rollers or casters 21. The rollers or casters 21 travel in the depressed portion 11 of the track 10 and hold the grate structure 15 in a horizontal position, for free rotation, preventing its sagging under therweight of a pan. A spindle 14 is formed upon the center of the rotary grate structure 15 as clearly shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings.

The racks 6 may be adjusted to any desired height or elevation within the oven 2, and the provision of the rotary brace structure 16 will permit the free and easy turning of articles being baked within the oven.

In reducing the invention to practice, such minor features of construction, combination, and arrangement of parts may necessitate alterations to Which the patentee is entitled, provided such alterations are comprehended Within the scope of What is claimed.

What is claimed is:

An oven attachment comprising" a plu-' rality of rectangular sliding frames, 2, plurality of vertical standards having enlarged ends forming supporting bases, sleeves formed on the corners of the frames arid slid ably engaging the standards, locking means carried by the sleeves for engaging said standards, said frames eachhaving a'n annular depression formed in the upper surface thereof, a circular supporting plate arranged on each frame, and a depending lug formed on the central portion of each plate, each of thefrarnes having a central opening rotatably receiving the lug, and a plurality of rollers carried by the lower surfaces of the circular plates adjacent the outer edges thereof and engaging in the annular depressions, as and for the purpose specified.
