Under such condition the attachment would takethe form of a clip illustrated in Figs..
3, 4,' and 5.,v said clip having the spring .10C 1;* .clampingjaw 8 at one'side and the bent, v clamp ,9 at the Vother side. f Itis preferred 'thatj the lip or extremity ofthe spring clamping element 8 be curved over y the topv of the collar engaging element9 as indicated at 10 so as to prevent damage to the scarf to which it is applied yIn the use of this arrangement the edge ofthe scarf is` engaged between YtheY jaws of the spring clamp 8 while the collar v'engaging portion 9 is slipped over the shirt collar in the manner J 207 Y Y 1n itsproper-posit1on preventing-contact of 'In applying 'thevmufier in position the Vtab/s Yare disposed over the. shirt -V collar,
speakingfwith reference to the-particular form of thevdevice `shown in Fig. l, and be'- tween the neck of the wearer andl the said collare; JAS the tabs are arranged in spaced relationthe muier will beheld positively the outer coatiwith the collar. The tabs referred to are preferablymade .of stiff mate-- rial and may be of any suitable size forcarrying out the function specified.
' As/it is possible to employ various other Y formsV of fastening meansthan the snapfastening arrangementhereinbefore described,
'Y I do not wish tol be confinedtothisrparticu-` lar method of attaching the device to the muiiier. t
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is 1. The combination with a scarf or the like, kof Va `fastener for holding the same in place upon a collar, comprising a collar envgaging portion at one side freely engagcable over and shiftable about the collar, and a scarf engaging portion at the other side engageable with'thescarf at the under side so as to lie intermediate the outer surface of the collar and the said scarf under side, said scarf engaging portion having positive engagement with the scarf permitting of adjustment at will with respect to the scarf without displacement of the scarf.
2. The combination, with a neck scarf or similar article .of wear having one of its edges provided withy fastening means, of spaced holdingl members engageable over the usual collar upon the wearers shirt so as to hold the scarf at points at opposite sides of the neck, and means for adjustably connecting one of said members to the scarf fastening means Y aforesaid.
- In testimony whereof I afiX my signature.
