Description

C. F. COOK.
COOKING STOVE. APPLICATION FILED FEB. 26.1917.
FIG.
FIG 5 FIG 2 CHARLES E COOK, OF HOUSTON HEIGHTS, TEXAS.
COOKING-STOVE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 18, 1919.
Application filed February 26, 1917. Serial No. 150,993.
a stove of the character described provided with an oven, and a combustion chamber, so arranged relative to each other, that the heat will completely surround said oven, said stove being equipped with a novel form of oil burner which is contained in the combustion chamber and adapted to utilize oil as a fuel.
With the above and other objects in view the invention has particular relation to certain novel features of construction, arrangement of parts, and use, an example of which is given in this specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawing wherein Figure 1, is a vertical sectional view of the stove.
Fig. 2, is a side view of the burner.
Fig. 3, is a plan view thereof, and
Fig. 4, is an end view of the blaze deflectors.
Referring now more particularly to the drawings wherein like numerals of reference designate similar parts in each of the figures, the numeral 1 refers to the body or outer shell of the stove which is composed usually of sheet metal, and, as shown, has the top, bottom, front, rear, and end walls, but may be formed into any particular design desired. The numeral 2 designates the oven whose top, bottom and front and rear walls are spaced from the corresponding outer walls of the stove body, forming the flue 3 on all sides of said oven, and whose ends are formed by the ends of the stove body to which the respective ends of the oven are secured. This oven is provided for use in baking or cooking articles which are placed therein and is usually formed ofsuitable sheet metal.
A transverse partition 4, is provided between the oven and the top of the stove and extends entirely across from end to end of the stove. Behind this partition is the pipe 5 from which the smoke is discharged from the flue 3, and in front of said partition is the combustion chamber 6.
A transverse apron 7 is provided in front of the combustion chamber, extending from end to end of the stove entirely across, said apron restricting the flue 3 and deflecting the flame up toward the top of the stove.
A burner is provided which is formed of two parallel pipe sections 8, 8 connected together at one end by a suitable connection 9. The upper sides of these pipe sections 8, 8 have perforations as 10, forming discharge orifices through which the fuel oil is discharged. This burner is arranged transversely in the combustion chamber and rests upon the oven and the fuel is admitted to it through the pipe 11 which'leads from the fuel oil tank 12 and is controlled by the gate valve 13 provided to entirely out off the fuel when the stove is not in use and the needle valve 14 provided to regulate the flow of fuel to the burner.
A deflector support 15 is provided, one end of which is attached to, and supported by, the foot piece 16 and the other end 17, of which is formed to fit the contour of. the transverse section of the pipe 11 and is supported thereby, said support being spaced above the burner. Fixed to the deflector support and alined above the discharge perforations '10 are the flame deflectors 18 which are arcuate in form and which serve to spread the flames and distribute them over the top of the stove so as to supply uniform heat to the cooking utensils on the stove.
A stove constructed in accordance with the foregoing specification and the drawings accompanying the same, will be found to be very economical in the consumption of fuel and will distribute the heat uniformly around the oven thus forming a superior cooking stove particularly for baking purposes. At the same time on account of'the circulation and distribution of the heat around the stove walls the stove will radiate heat and may be used as a combination cooking and heating stove.
What I claim is:
A stove whose walls are formed of sheet metal, an oven formed of top, bottom, front and rear walls extending from end to end of the stove but spaced from the corresponding walls forming a flue around the oven, a
transverse partition between the top of said oven andjt etop;of,1thehstove,,asmoke outlet communicating with the flue on Oneside. of said partition, a combustion. chamber on, the other side of saidpartition, the top of the oven forming the bottom Wall of= the? combustion chamber and an apron arranged in front of the combustion chamber and .7
forming the front wallthereof provided to Copies of this patent may be obtained' for restrict the flue and deflect the blaze up 10 against; thetop. of; the stove: t
