To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, Cos'rAs KYRIAKOS, a citizen of the United States, residin at Flint, in the county of Genesee and tate of Michigan, have invented newand useful Improvements in Gas-Savers, of which the following is a specification. This invention has reference to trolling means for gas burners.
The object of the invention is toproduce a means designed to obviate the waste of a congas occasioned in gas stoves or ranges through failure in turning off the gas sup-v plying a gas burner when the latter is not actually in use. It is a common practice for housewives or cooks to turn on thegas at the commencement or preparation of a articles are removed from the stove for the complete preparation of other articles to be received upon the stove, is so great that such practice is seldom resorted to by the cook, the waste of gas not being considered.
With my improvement, I provide a controller for gas burners which is of'such a design and construction, as to be adapted, through the weight of an article or'uten'sil, to be arranged in position for heating over the burner, cooperating therewith and by virtue. of such cooperation to permit a free flow of gas to the burner, and upon the removal of the article therefrom, the device automatically operates to shut ofl or partially shut 011' the .supply of gas to the burner, consequently, extinguishing the flame of onlya small amount of gas, just sufiiclent' to effectively light the burner when a utensil is'again arranged over the said burner. A further object ofthe invention isto produce a gas control which shall be of a simple nature, readily installed upon 'any ordinary construction of gas stoves, which shall be positive in action, and which may be cheaply manufactured and installed.

Centrally arranged beneath hole '7, "is a burner 9, the said burner having. a pipe connection 10 with the mixing chambers .11, and the mixing chamber is provided with the u'sualshutter valve 12.
The gas manifold is indicated by the numeral'13, and is, as usual, arranged'to the outer side'ofthe range 5. Connected with the manifold isthe casing 14 for the valve 15 that control the gas between the manifold and the burner. The valve is provided with ing is provided with a pipe extension or nozzle 17 that extends centrally through the shutter 12, into the mixing chamber 11. The pipe extension 17 of the casing of the valve 15 outward of the mixing chamber 11 is provided with a plug valve18, the outer end thereof being preferably headed as at 19, and the said head being provided with an angularforked extension 20. The mixing chamber 11, upon its under surface, is approxi mately centrally provided with a depending bracket 21, the same having a rectangular opening 22, and the lower wall provided by the said openings is beveled or inclined from the outer face of the bracket to the inner face thereof, forming the same with what I will term a, tooth 23. The removal of the utensil Will cause the parts to assume their normal position through themedium of the spring 28, thus closing the valve 18.
The valve 18 is so regulated that a small flo-W of gas is permitted from the manifold to the burner which reduces, but does not 'e'iitinguish'the 7 fiam'e of -the'bu rner, so that when a utensil is again placed on the head 36 and the valve 18 operated, as above described, aFfuIl n w of gas 'Wi'll 'be' admitted from the iman ifold through the burner.
