lMPROVE MENT IN EGG-HOLDERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 129,632, dated July 16, 1872.
Specification describing an Improved Egg Holding Device, invented by ROBERT M. WASHBU'RN, of Burlington, in the county of Des Moines and State of Iowa.

And it further consists in fluting or corrugating the surface or material of such cap to make the same more perfectly non-conductive by introducing air between said cap and the egg, and to make the said cap more elastic all of which will be more explicitly set forth hereinafter.
In the accompanying drawing, which forms a part of this specification, Figure 1 represents a View of the cap in position upon an egg. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the cap detached.
Like letters of reference made use of in the several figures indicate like parts.
To enable those skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe the same with particularity, making use in so doing of the aforesaid drawing by letters of reference thereto.
General Description. A represents the cap or cover, and B an egg,
to which it is fitted. The cap A may be molded or pressed into form from any desired matrial, as, for in stance, from paper-pulp or from any other suitable substance. The shape giv: en to it is that of half an egg, and the sides are fluted or formed into a ribbed or corrugated shape, as shown by the flutes a. The object of these corrugations a is to render the cap more elastic, so that it will fit eggs of various sizes, to make the said cap more perfectly non-conducting of heat by admitting air between the shell of the egg and the cap, and to render the cap more readily formed by a mold. The cap is taken between the fingers and placed overoue end of the egg, where it is held by its elasticity, and any required dispositionas, for instance, breaking and eating may then be made of the egg without burning or soiling the fingers. These caps may be made of very cheap material, at an exceedingly small cost, and prove to be a great convenience at the table. Having thus fully described the construction and operation of my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s-
The elastic non-conductin g halfegg-shaped cup, with corrugations, for the purpose set forth, and substantially as specified.
