Specification of Letters Patent.
I1 BUTTON.
1917. Serial No. 176,400.
The drawing shows the button provided with a recess 5 in the lower part of its shank into which the spring ring is placed, but my invention may be applied to other styles of buttons, for instance, the ring may inclose the entire shank.

as the chain may be secured to the shirt by any suitable means, such as a'safety pin. However, by using the tie clasp, the clasp is made to serve a double purpose and the expense of the article is thereby reduced and a much neater arrangement is secured.
It will be seen that if the button should be dropped it will'not be lost, as the chain prevents it from dropping on the floor. Furthermore, the chain may be made to hole, as by passin the chain through the hole first would ai in drawing through the head of the button. Furthermore, if desired the ring may be caused to pass through the button hole, so as to hold the shirt befacilitate the placing of the button in the i tween the bottom of the button and the said ring, thereby preventing the button from progecting inwardly beyond the shirt and coming in contact with the neck of the wearer.
It is thought from the foregoing that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make slight changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
I claim as my invention:
combination with a collar having a pair of button holes, a collar button having an opening in its shank adjacent the base of the button, a ring engaging the said opening adapted to pass through one of the button holes, and thus hold the base of the collar button in close engagement with one side of the collar, a, clasp, and a chain connecting the ring with said clasp.
In testimon whereof I aflix my signature presence 0 two witnesses.
