APPLICATION FILED AUG. I5, 1918.

4 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM JAMES WALSH, OF HAMILTON, ONTARIO, CANADA.
ADJUSTABLE CONTAINER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 28, 1919.'
Application filed August 15, 1918. Serial No. 250,025.
. justed to form compartments of any desired size to suit the various articles held by the container and which may be quickly opened and closed and it consists essentially of the following arrangement and construction of parts as hereinafter more particularly explained. V
Figure 1 is a sectional plan view of my device. f Fig. 2 is a .cross sectional view on line a:y, Fig. 1.,
Fig. 3 is a plan sectional detail on line In the drawings like characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the various figures.
1 indicates the outer wall of a container, such wall being annular and provided with upper and lower surrounding beads 1 and- Within the wall 1 is located an annular wall 2 provided with vertical corrugations 2 extending entirely around the same. 3
indicates the inner annular wall also provided with vertical corrugations 3 in radial alinement with the vertical corrugations 2 of the wall 2. The walls 2 and 3 are spaced apart by partition members 4 and 4* separated by a horizontal partition 4. The partitions' l 4, are slid vertically into alined corrugations 2 and 3*. By placing a plurality of partition walls 4 in position the walls 2 and 3 are definitely spaced apart and held in position, the walls 4 being adjusted circumferentially to any desired position or any number of partition walls 4 being used to form compartmentsof any desired size. Within the inner wall 3 is located a cross partition member 5, the ends of the partition wall fittin within the internal corrugations of the wa 3 thereby forming several divisions.
8 and 9 indicate the heads of the container which are provided with surrounding beads 8 and 9i. 10 indicate housings which are secured to the outer wall 1- of the container by bolts 10", the housing 10 being located between the beads 1 and 1. Upon the inner face of the housing is secured a wire portion 10. 11 indicates a double sprin finger provided intermediately of its lengtli w1th a bent portion ll which is sprung into po-. sition around the wire portion 10 the free ends of the fingers extending outwardly toward the top and bottom of the container and Provided with bent portions 11' and 11 v which grip the outer peripheral portions of V the beads 8 and 9*. The extreme ends of the fingers 11 may be out-turned at 11 and 11 to form finger grips by which the spring fingers may be forced out of engagement with the beads of the top and bottomof the a container, the housings limiting the outward movement of the fingers.
p In order to fasten either head of the con- I tainer in position all thatit is necessary to do is to force the head downwardly with the bead thereof in engagement with the end of the spring finger 11 and thereby force it out so that the bead passes into position between the outer wall 1 and the recess 11 or 11 of the finger.
By means of the partition 4 a set of compartments is provided at each side of the '85 container which may be separately gotten at by removing either the heads or covers 8 or 9.
What I claim as my, invention is An adjustable hand grip container comprising an outer ring member having a hand grip, a central partltion, a corrugated ring within the outer rin member, corrugated inner rings one on eac side of the partition,
and radial partitions between the corrugated rings to hold them in place and divide the space between them into compartments, and cover members provided with means for detachably clamping them against the outer edges of the rings so as to form secure balanced'carrying compartments when the container is carried on the vertical plane parallel to the face of the covers.
