IMPROVEMENT l N APPARATUS FOR DRAWING ONBOOTS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 129,175, dated July 16, 1872.
Specification describing a certain Apparatus for Drawing on Boots, invented by JAMES RUssELL, of the city and county of St. Louis and State of Missouri. My improvement consists essentially of a strap having at each end a hook to engage the boot-tu gs, and of suitable length to pass around behind the person.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improvement. Fig. 2 shows the manner of using the same.
A is a strap that may be made of any suitable material having but little elasticity; (I have used the woven material used for boottugs.) At each end of the strap is a hook, B, to engage the boot-tugs. The form of the hook may be varied to suit the fancy or convenience. The strap at one end is passed through the hook and attached to a slip-buckle, O, which may be slipped on the strap to increase or di minish the length of the same to suit the size of the user.
When using the boot-drawer the strap is passed behind the buttocks and the hooks B engaged in the tugs D of the boot; then, by straightening the leg, the boot is drawn on with great case, without any strain upon the spine, as is the case when boots are drawn on by hand; but, if desired, the operation may be assisted by the hands.
I claim as my invention The boot-drawer, consisting of the extensible strap A O and hooks B, as and for the purpose set forth.
